My Mom's Recipe for pot roast in the crock pot....simple and so good: Easy to remember if you think "3's" Either brown the roast in a little oil first before putting in crock pot...or if you are in a real hurry, rub some Kitchen Bouquet all over it and throw it in the crock pot. Approximately: 3 lb beef roast...cheap one, like chuck or arm, etc.....size is approx 3 large poatoes, halved or quartered 3 large carrots, cut in halves or thirds 3 large onions, quartered 1 c water 1 bay leaf -- optional, and if you use it, remove after roast is done Cook in crock pot for about 8-10 hours on low. I use Evernote (evernote.com) for this very thing. It is made just for this purpose, so its really easy to organize & categorize everything. I've found it especially useful for keeping track of the decorating inspiration I see on AT. Another cool thing is that when you save something from the web, it saves a link to the original post for future reference. Hi- My favorite new tech thing right now is Evernote. It's a website & downloadable application (though I've only used the online portion) that functions like a digital notebook / sketchpad / bookmark list and archive all in one. The best part for me is that it is visual, so instead of having to read through a bunch of text to find what you're looking for, you can just scan through the pics you've saved (you can save notes that are all text also). Every "note" you create from a web clipping also stores the site info that it was clipped from, so you can link back easily. I'm not affiliated w/ them in any way, but just thought I'd try it out because it sounded cool and was free, and have found myself using it more than I expected. It's especially great for clipping and saving pics from AT and recipes from thekitchn, and you can create different notebooks such as "furniture", "recipes", "pets", etc. You can check it out here: http://www.evernote.com If I win, I would take the hard case macbook case and the 1st gen iphone case. Even though I don't keep receipts for tax purposes, but... I keep all receipts that I think there MIGHT be a chance I'll need (for possible returns, etc) in a little expandable index card file that is sorted alphabetically by store. For any products that come with manuals and / or warranties, I attach the receipt and put it all together in a file. Anything that I know I won't need again, I try to get rid of right away.
