My grandmom used to make samosas too and I have a cousin who makes great ones.
One can buy excellent samosas, so most people would rather avoid the labour and the deep frying

Can't imagine masala dosas stuffed with meat.

Indian restaurant food is very different from Indian home cooking. And there is a lot of variation in homestyle cooking - it's different in different parts of India and in different communities.

Very few people in India actually make malai koftas (restaurant food) or samosas (very popular street food).

Quite agree with ldcinlb (even I have seen where those cute little paws go ... Ugh!)
But I'm fighting a losing battle with our little mutt. For the first 6 months in our house she was perfectly happy on the floor and on her bed. Now she is up on the beds, the sofas, and everywhere.

Lovely. Every house should have at least one wall that is covered with bookshelves. Combine it with your AV equipment: the accoustics will be very good

Good attempt AT and bad luck. I was torn between yours & Elle Decor and voted differently on different days. The third one is too much like a furnished service apartment.

I like the idea of keeping them in a sitting room instead of coffee table books. Perhaps I'll try a version of the first picture.
I hate to throw magazines away, esp. fashion or decor magazines. I dont subscribe to any but I do hold on to the issues that I have been tempted into buying.

The wall of storage in the living room is just too awesome: it is so very functional and can store so much, and doesn't look the least bit bulky. I love the way they have incorporated pull-down desks.
If and when my budget allows it, I would love to have something similar under the stairs in our entryway hall.

Saving the picture of the under-stairs storage with the desk pullout. Someday - when budget allows - I am going to do something similar.

I love everything about your house - the books, the rugs, the piano, the dogs, the cat, the tiles, the hanging pots and pans, ... just everything. The garden's transformation is amazing, though it is now a little overgrown for my taste.

As an Indian from a traditional Hindu family, I am surrounded by devout Hindus. And they all use religious images and idols as art. (Pictures and statues of Ganesha are the most popular.)
As this post says, you see these images everywhere. They are everywhere even in New Delhi homes - in the living rooms, dining roooms, bedrooms, etc. They are certainly not being worshipped all the time!
For many people this is the only "art" they know of or appreciate. It serves a dual purpose: they get the blessings of the gods as they go about their daily routines, and their lives get some added colour.
Why object if a non-Hindu does the same?
