So funny that this recipe should be posted the day I returned home from a trip to Lithuania where my Russian mother-in-law made this every two days or so for us! Now I'll be making it at home for my husband and daughter!

Is refinishing out of the question? I'd just own up to your mistake, and ask your landlord/relative how to make it right, making it absolutely clear that you have every intention of following through and making it right.

I, too, get a little worn out hearing all the "we's." In fact, I think it distracts from the actual post.

I think it's clever and practical. I have a very large master bedroom, but that doesn't mean I want my beautiful floors covered up with a dog bed no matter how nice the dog bed looks. This is something I'd consider doing for our gargantuan dog. It would be really nice to be able to shove the dog bed away when entertaining.....come to think of it, my dog's current bed will fit under our bed. Now I know where to put it! Love the chairs as nightstands!

First of all, I love your curtains. I say keep 'em and use those as your inspiration. Bedrooms should be "cool" rooms with calming colors for most people. If you like your bedroom to be a relaxing place, go with cool colors. Paint the walls a creamy white, light gray, mint green or slatey blue. Your dressers/nightstands are a bit tall for the bed. I say move those to an opposite wall and push them together to visually make them one unit if possible. If they aren't the same height, maybe just keep one out and put the other in the closet? Get shorter side tables for your bed and see if you can't lower those pendants a bit. How often do you use the fan? If not much, you could make a big impact by switching it out for something like this to play up the floral element of the curtains: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90147465

I like the two pillows laying on the floor on the rug. Those would look nice on the bed with a fluffy, ruffly white duvet cover and volumous white or gren pillows. The rug itself feels too dark for me, but I really do like it. Can you use it elsewhere in your apartment and replace it with something in a softer, cooler color? I'd also tone down the artwork. Hang the two smaller pieces on the wall you place the dressers on and then move the bigger piece into your living room where it can be seen and appreciated by more people. The colors are so vibrant and could brighten up a main living space easily. For your bedroom, try to stick to just a few main colors to keep everything in sync, and just tone down the amount of black, but don't get rid of it altogether.

My economics professor showed this video in class last week (not as part of a lesson!) All I could think was, "I really hope they recycled that wood when they were done!"

Perhaps more wood is wasted on disposable chopsticks every year, but shouldn't the answer then be for restaurants to switch to washable chopsticks? The pho restaurant by me uses them and they feel better than wood scraping against my teeth anyway. Justifying waste by saying someone else wastes more is not really being a part of the solution. I'm not saying it isn't cool and that these people are evil for doing this. Not at all. It's an awesome project! I just hope the wood was turned into something else that's useable once this initial purpose had been served.

PS-This is the same principle as using a ceramic coffee mug even though everyone else around you uses the paper ones that get tossed in a landfill!
