Can anyone who has made this please weigh in on whether the 425 degrees is a mistake or not? I want to make this tomorrow for a large family gathering and really don't want to ruin it!

Oh my. I love bold wallpaper, but I fear if you spent much time in a wallpapered room this tiny you would be driven slowly insane. Better for a room you leave quickly (like a powder room).

I love the idea of cast iron but am seriously worried by the idea of just wiping it out without soap after using it. What's to prevent bacteria, germs, E. coli, whatever from multiplying on the surface and tainting whatever gets cooked next?

I have only fine china and sterling silverware in my apartment (I gave the everyday china and flatware to friends). Since I live in a teeny NYC apartment, there was not really room for both. It makes me so happy to use the good stuff every single day -- even toast and jam seems like an event. And because I have no dishwasher, I wash everything by hand anyway, so that part is no hardship.

I'm on the bepsf bandwagon. Sheers can look really sad really fast -- like underwear that's been washed one too many times. A thicker drape with more body is a much better look, imo.

spanky: i've never heard of pigmented shellac primer. can you recommend a brand name by chance? thanks in advance! (agree that all knotty pine paneling should be painted over immediately, btw)

on a slightly different note: where did the owner of the apartment pictured get the white cachepot in the center of the table? love it!

Looks like it would work on mushrooms too -- which would be fabulous. I sometimes use an egg slicer on them, but the wires just aren't tough enough. If the cutting blades on this gizmo are a little beefier, seems like a no-brainer buy to me.

lovely, but I think most people would find it tiresome to have to roll out and then stow their "bed" every day....
