You know, I joked not long ago that Apartment Therapy may need to be re-titled "Whining About First World Problems". I'm starting to think that joke may be sadly more accurate than I thought.

JUST made these, they were amazing! I really layered on the cinnamon and sugar mix, and baked them plain without the caramel sauce and added caramel ice cream topping when I served them. Definitely a keeper recipe for me.

Best advice I've gotten for Thanksgiving (which I got from this website) was to make the mashed potatoes first thing in the morning, right after the turkey goes in the oven, and put them in a crock pot for the rest of the day. Not only does it keep them nice and warm, and cut down on last-minute prep just before dinner, but if you're like me and load up the spuds with cream, sour cream, butter, a little cream cheese, etc., the bottom of the crock pot will brown them slightly over the day and they'll take on a taste like twice baked potatoes, and it's HEAVENLY.

The other 'happy accident' I've found that works out really well is to (if possible) keep the turkey in the oven significantly longer than it takes to actually cook it, just at a slightly lower heat with plenty of basting and moisture. I cooked the bird almost 2X too long a couple of years back, and it was the most moist, tender, delicious turkey I and my guests ever had.

I'm going to have to try this- thought I would have to wait for spring and get out the carpet shampooer on a day off.

Monica-hmmm, like corn chips? You don't happen to have bassets, do you?

I remember a story like this from Iowa several years ago. The woman involved had moved to a neighbor's barn and wore tinfoil inside of stocking cap to keep the EMF away from her brain (not making this up.) She insisted that an electrical transformer that had been built near her house had made her sick and she could no longer live there.

I actually did a science fair project on EMF way back in middle school, so I've kept a curious eye on the science surrounding it since. I do believe that the scientist who originally claimed that EMF was extremely dangerous admitted a few years later that his entire body of research on the issue was a complete sham.

My parents gave me a box (yes, a box- I was embarrassed) of white zinfandel that was past it's prime. I have an irrational fear of wasting anything, and so I actually ended up finding this recipe for wine jelly, canning a lot of it, and giving it away as small Christmas gifts. Lousy wine made really good jelly.

I used to work at a JoAnn Fabrics- the amount of fleece we'd go through a day even in the summer was nuts, it outsells almost every other fabric in the store this time of year.

I'm going to save someone working at JoAnn's some time here- if you want to make a tie blanket, here's the yardage(s) you need (X2, one piece for each side)

crib blanket-1 yard
child - 1.5 yards
adult-2 yards
'but they're really tall'-2.5 yards
'will it fit a twin bed?'- the adult one will, yup.
'can I make one for a full/queen/ect. bed." Not without a seam somewhere in the middle.

Also, I love the Argyle one. I havn't seen that done yet, It's great.

I'm actually not terribly impressed. It seems unfinished, and the overall space isn't cohesive. It seems like a lot of trendy modern elements all used at once without enough though about how it all makes sense in the space. I agree with Aster on the dislike of the cardboard chairs, they have always seemed gimmicky to me, fun for a dorm room, not functional for a mature space. I do like the tables in the living room, the dining table is ok but the 'decor' on top is dissapointing- I expect more from Pratt than a few semi-modern glass object centered on a placemat. The clock concept is interesting, but it has a major proportion problem- either the vases circling need to get smaller or that clock needs to get a lot bigger.

Overall, I think they need to think more about the space's visual unity, and varying it visually with more textures and varying the proportion of the furniture and accessories.
