It might look Scandinavian, but it's inspired by Mexican Otami or Otomi textiles. From Apartmenttherapy itself:

I rarely use them any more, but I always used to just put them in the washing machine with the towels and stuff. I don't know why this isn't obvious to anyone else? I tried to think why; do people all assume they would fall apart? They do not. My mom's always done it, and so have I.

I remember reading that a garbage disposal gives food waste a better chance of decomposing & going away than sitting in a landfill...

We do have a disposal and rarely use it now that we compost. I do like having it there, though. Katynonymous seems unnecessarily offended by them.

huh, why did I think this was already in use and invented? I wonder if anyone else knows of plumbing systems used for gray water?

I have them as gifts from our wedding and it's an excellent set we learned to cook on. Now we upgrade when we can, but it seems wasteful to get rid of the nonstick. I believe as long as the nonstick material doesn't flake or otherwise break up, it won't harm me too much until I wear them out & trade up completely.

I love this. I don't love theme-y, character rooms so much either. the colors are rich and still soothing. Totally original and lovely style!

I use the crystals in the basement, which tends to get stuffy in the winter and is where I keep a litter box for my cats. I think it works really well, but I'm not sure why.

I have the same coffee issue working at home! Sometimes I get so wound up I have to leave the house for a brisk walk. I switched to decaf for a while, but that just felt wrong.

Every few years I think it would be wonderful to work in an office, but then I realize how much I wouldn't really enjoy it after all this time. I think the time I gain by not commuting is so valuable.

Totally! I write a lot about making do because it's fun. I love the way it feels to use something up 100%, like spices, or an expensive lotion. First, it means I bought the right thing in the beginning and lived out the plan for that item; second, it means I'm saving money.

My favorite discovery was that the shoe repair shop here in town does not only a great job with my soles, but repaired my husband's expensive leather gloves, too!

Don't let your cat play with rubber bands... it's essentially string and can get very badly trapped in their digestive systems! Also, the string the cat in the picture is another dangerous toy. Please stop using either right away.

My cats love paper bags or boxes, especially if they have a toy hidden in them. Same for a toy hidden under a blanket. I have a long box with a hole just large enough for their paws and I often hide a toy in there and they love searching it out. I have a long strip of fleece tied to the handle of an old fishing pole style toy that they love- it's like a snake and they like to chase it around the corners. I've hidden toys inside those little balls with jingle bells in the place of the bells so they can work to get the bell out.

Hmmm, I've been told that it's best to get it from the park or site you are staying at. In Wisconsin, it has to come from within 30 miles of your site because they don't want you to introduce non-local, invasive pests.

I'm also amandaraealso.... I cleaned the floors last week as part of my catch-up cleaning. I'm skipping the style tray because I actually have so many stacks of inspiration photos saved & online clips that it's overwhelming. Instead, I know what I'm going to do for the front:

-new light fixture that gives off more light
-fixture for a plant
-possibly paint a wide border on the top part of the wall to bring the ceiling lower

I've finally brought 2 boxes of donated clothes to the Salvation Army, after having them sit in the back for almost a month. I've figured that I can donate/recycle 2 years' worth of Food & Wine & Cooking Light because I bought the annual cookbooks VERY cheaply online... this will find me some space in the back on my cookbook shelves. Additionally, I am experimenting with keeping my winter gloves, scarves, etc, in a tote bag hanging from a hook in the back. I am researching coat hooks and shoe storage for the back of the house. The rest of the landing strip is well established. I have a budget of $100 for each area. (Front and back entries).
Next week we should be able to do some deep cleaning and general bones repair as well.

I love that you brought this to light... I've been reading about the cure and I actually "make do" regularly. It was really nice to hear that it can be good and creative from someone else, especially as I sometimes worry it's more about procrastination and not being able to commit to a plan.
