Interesting! I like the look, and definitely like the idea of reusable gift tags. I'm curious what they're made out of. Chalkboard Gift Tags | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

That's a really good idea. I hope this becomes a common design for water heaters. Gorenje Tiki Water Heater Doubles As Heat Pump | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

Buying (or renting) live trees that can be planted is a better option than either cut trees or artificial trees. There are also some cool eco-friendly modern designs out there like this one: http://possibilitree.com/ Real Christmas Trees "Greener" than Artificial EarthTimes | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

Thanks for sharing this. Most people have 2 or 3 old cell phones in their houses that they don't use anymore, and this is a good reminder that we could easily help out others by finding and donating those phones (and laptops, etc.). That looks beautiful. Is it hard to keep the plants from getting too wet since the container doesn't drain? A Simple Cheap Succulent Centerpiece | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

One way to help (especially in warmer climates where food grows all year round) is to share extra fruit from trees in your backyard. This is one site I just came across: http://www.neighborhoodfruit.com/ Call To Service: Feed A Neighbor | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

Air-drying clothes definitely helps them last longer. As someone else mentioned, it's important to make sure the clothes are getting fully spun out in the washer first-- that really helps. If you're anywhere near a Japanese market (bigger cities often have them) they have great space-saving circular racks for hanging socks and other small items. Have You Lived Without a Dryer? This is a great idea. Gardeners can use ingredients from their own yards. Instead of tea bags, a reused canister and a tea infuser would be perfect. Gift Idea: Homemade Tea Blends | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

Nice selection. I've never seen anything like the recycled soda bottles! Homemade artisan gifts are really a good idea. For people who live in areas with craft and art fairs this time of year (like Bizarre Bizarre in San Francisco this weekend, http://www.bazaarbizarre.org/sanfrancisco/) those are great places to find gifts. Great idea. It looks surprisingly comfortable! It seems like a great project to try making yourself, since shipping from Cape Town might offset the environmental benefits of reusing a suitcase... Inspiration: Katie Thompson's Suitcase Seating | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

Great idea. I didn't realize Xmas tree vendors sold (or gave away!) trimmings. You're right that just a little bit of pine is enough for that amazing smell. Frugal Holiday Decor: Trimmings from Evergreen Boughs | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

I love the artichoke candle holder! Very cool. I also love decorations made from recycled/reused materials, like this bow made from magazines: http://howaboutorange.blogspot.com/2009/10/make-gift-bow-from-magazine-page.html Natural Holiday Decorations | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

Although this has been called eco-friendly because it has features like solar power, overall it doesn't seem very green because it's not really necessary. It just plays one single radio station, and you have to get a different radio for each station. Most people already have, and use, MP3 players. Lovely design, but I agree with dahliamoon that candles could achieve the same effect. I like some of the larger portable fireplaces that are available. Fun idea. But I'm curious how long it lasts-- the story makes it sound a little like you're expected to recycle it fairly soon. I definitely love the idea of PVC-free curtains. Recyclable Bathroom Decor Ty D.I.Y. Recyclable Shower Curtain | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

A lot of energy is wasted powering idle computers. I think shutting down is a good choice, but if you have a laptop with standby mode, you could just turn off the power strip to the computer and let it stay on standby through the battery. Nice idea. Definitely good to also try to avoid buying packaged fruit, too, either at a local farmers market or a grocery store. Produce companies shouldn't be using that much packaging! Apples are great to get locally. Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | Bulk Store Fruit Packaging: One Way to Reuse It |
