I have taken classes, but don't underestimate Youtube. While its not the most reliable from a safety perspective, it is really handy for learning tricks beyond the ones you know.

I learned how to solder entirely from youtube videos.

I really respect this era of design but 90% looks dated to me. What really appeals to me is the minimalism of the era. I am however more captivated by contemporary furniture which uses the same principals with an updated aesthetic and different (more eco friendly) materials.

Fiberglass and plastics just don't cut it anymore for all your furnishings.

I should also say that there are some specific pieces that are truly timeless and should be held in the best of regards.

I don't think you need a specific coffee table, but you need something.... An ottoman is a great alternative.

If you do decide to get one, you will be surprised how versatile it can be and how much it will tie your room together.

Out with the old and in with the new. I like the look of old light bulbs just as much as anyone. However, there is no reason not to use more energy efficient bulbs.

I love the new Plumen bulb, and I can't wait for even more design forward energy efficient bulbs to appear.

Don't forget Lala Luxe in LA and elsewhere. Its on the high end, but I have used them for their jewelry Concierge. I fancy myself a man with great taste, but I just don't get jewelry. Fabric could be a huge fire hazard... With that said, you could build a few simple frames out of 2x4s and stretch it so that its tight.

With a frame you could also put sheet rock on it. It would drop you ceiling another 3 inches, but might be worth it.

Going to have to disagree here... Don't use a silver tip bulb... any of these solutions will work without fire hazard if you use a CFL or LED Bulb.

Really there is no reason (unless its a decorative bulb) not to use Cfls.

Hey Guys, thanks for the comments.

This to me was an homage to the droog design. No doubt about it, but my way of getting there was a bit different.

This work is named "bottles of hope" after the bottles of hope project. It is a project where people decorate medical vials "to cheer up the lives of cancer patients going through the ordeal of chemotherapy." While the original bottles of hope project was mostly done with clay, I was inspired by the idea of using a a material that would normally have negative connotations to symbolize hope.
