This is a nice break from the same old mid century mod twists that are EVERYWHERE. I like seeing posts like this with thoughtful design that is not as commonly seen on AT.

Cool house, Mitch! And kudos for keeping the same sofa for 16 years. It looks great.

I like having a cool house tour with standard beige carpet. Flooring is not cheap or easy to replace for most of us. Thanks AT

I always love that DesignSponge picture, too. I have an entry way into my split level with 20 foot ceilings. I really want to make a cool statement in that space but am so afraid to go over the top in a bad way. Maybe I'll collect enough gusto to do it before spring.

Very pricey roundup. Overstock.com has great sized runners (12 feet) for more reasonble prices. 2K for a runner? I want to see that house.

I like the first hallway, too but because of the great colors used.

I would have enjoyed some hallways with colors other than white, too. Mirrors are fabulous just about anywhere.

I think it could work in an attached garage. My husband and I have a pile at the door before we enter the house. Somehow the stacked floor show organizers are as much in the way as the pile of shoes. It's more creative than shoving them under the bed. Everyone is ready for the weekend maybe?

I agree that the best part about this home is that it is grounded in REALity. I don't like everything, but that is what makes it interesting. Maybe if I take the ease and relaxed approach of a 90 year old then my house would look as effortless.

Good post. Real people. Real homes. No stuffy, fussy staging.

What paint color did you use in the master bedroom?

WOW! I never thought my question would be posted. (Admittingly I'm modestly new to AT, so bear with me in my excitement.) Thanks for the support! I feel much more confident about turning the sofa down because of the price. Between my wallet and better reason, I could never pay that much for this sofa (no matter how much I like the shape). I agree that the chair is really cool. It was already sold (I don't know the price, but I have a feeling it would be too steep for me, judging by the rest of the store). I'm an avid Craigslist searcher and have many fabulous thrift and antique shops in my Waldo area (in KC) so I'll keep up my happy hunting! Thanks for the local tips; I'll check them out soon. I'm still starstruck that you all answered my question! Thanks so much. You made my day!
