White dove - warm but not too dark. The light value will be a good counter to the rug.

Personally in a space this small I would have gone with white appliances. I think the S/S with black chops the space up a bit. Stenciling a copy of the tile pattern on the window blind could be fun.

They could be worth several hundred dollars as they are. If painted they won't be worth much of anything.

I saw a set of these chairs last week. I was told they were from the 70's. I think the seat was black padded leather.

Nice. I like the story of buying a house and then finding out your grandfather built it.

House is adorable. I would only comment that the remodel is done more in the style of a 1920s craftsman than a 1940s bungalow.

It is hard to match a color from a home printer as they only create a visual mix from the 4 ink colors.
Matching to a ribbon, paper, fabric is a terrific idea and much easier.

The high gloss level is part of the color story here. There is a lot of light on the stairwell. The color you are looking for may be more yellow than you think. Try looking at Benjamin Moore chamomile or chic lime.

I think any sort of wainscoting or chair rail would look too busy in the space.

Pale green. So pale that it almost reads white. Coral accents.

Lovely transformation. The only thing I would have done different is I would have moved the stove 3 feet to the right. Easier to get at the oven and for lefthanded people like myself, easier to use the stove top.

I would paint the garage door and frame the same color as the walls.
Maybe minimal track lighting instead of the boob light so you can direct light onto the large wall of the stairwell. A large piece of art would look nice there.
Love the parquet floor.

I used a thin foam under the click-lock laminate flooring that I laid over concrete. The form is made and sold specifically as an under layer for the click-lock floor. It acts as a moisture barrier and helps level out little things.
I think in order to install a real wood floor you would have to lay down a moisture barrier and then a wood sub-floor and then your parquet.

Lovely home! Beautiful furniture, bold use of color and pattern! The stacks of books tucked everywhere in the den make for a very cozy and inviting space.

"I finally found a piece I love . . ."

Maybe you should give up Starbucks, restaurants, movies, shoes etc for 6 - 10 months and buy a piece of furniture you love. Even if it is more than you ever thought you'd pay for a piece of furniture. Craigslist and Ikea are great for fill in pieces until you find what you love.

P.S. it's on sale.

Furniture or shelves are best painted with an interior alkyd paint. Pittsburg Paints makes one that is available in many colors or can be custom mixed. Sherwin Williams also makes.

The gas shut off valve appears to be on the doorway (left) side of the meter. This should not be blocked with a build out. Enclosing gas meters is usually not allowed and you are not supposed to paint them as they belong to the gas company. (can you tell I've gone back and forth with my local gas company?) The curtain idea as suggested by buzsawyer seems the simplest.

I would keep the woodwork white/near white, paint all the walls a light to light-medium value color and paint the far dining room wall with the white cabinet a deeper value of your chosen color. I think painting the spaces two different colors would be too "busy". Bring different colors into each space with your accents.
