Well done, Theresa! And what others have said. *Lauding*

Also, the skyline cut into the LP mirror is fabulous!

I don't consider myself a collector, but I do have quite a few fountain pens (on the fountainpennetwork.com, someone's always starting a thread about whether one is a collector or a user, then a bunch of others will concede being an accumulator). Here are some of mine: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ethernautrix/sets/72157603865660402/

That's ingenious! Also, I'm jealous of the view. I need to move somewhere pretty. Sigh.

What? You'll "never?" I don't know where my mind is. That should say, "you'll need." D'oh! (What else did I say without my knowledge?)

@sleggo - Here's a trick. You'll never several large plastic garbage bags and rubberbands.

Cut a small hole in the middle of the bottom of the garbage bag.

Grab a dozen or so hangers with clothes hanging from them and wrap a rubberband around the bottom of the hooks to bind them.

Push the hooks through the small hole and shimmy the garbage bags down over the clothes.

Maybe it isn't the best solution, but it's quick, easy, and cheap. It's worked for me for several moves, one cross-country.

What a lovely apartment, and I love the stairs. Beautiful.

I'm a bad American consumer. I don't buy into mindless or "obligatory" consumerism. Pun intended.

I didn't realize gift expectations were tied to how much the reception cost per person. Interesting...

I've moved A LOT, and most of the moves I've done myself (my so-called style, therefore, is "default minimalism") with maybe a quick assist from a friend. When I eventually move from this apartment, I'll hire a mover. Probably Delancey Street, since a lot of readers here have had good experiences with them.

I ALWAYS offer to help friends and co-workers move. I like the activity of it, the work-out of it. I like loading the vehicle and then carrying the boxes to the new place. I like that I didn't have to pack and don't have to unpack. I know I'm weird. I know that. I like the controlled upheaval of change.

You know... Chelsea Handler is right. I wasn't able to afford movers (previously), and my problems WERE much bigger than relocating. Ha ha ha! Thank god for friends. But also thank god, I mean me, I can move myself.

But yeah... movers next time.

My mother took care of puppies with rickets when she grew up in an orphanage during the DEPRESSION, and she said, "NEVER GIVE UP HOPE."

(I get my sense of humor from my dad. Sorry.)

Less universally applicable, she said, "You should be in show business." PAUSE. "But not as a singer."

I followed her advice much to the entertainment world's relief, I'm sure.

This is a little too Silence of the Lambs for my comfort. Maybe it's that last photo. Is it post-processed as b&w with a spot of color, or is it really that night-vision goggles monochromatic (with a spot of color)?

My gut reaction to these photos is: FBI, surveillance, psychopa-- Oops, I mean, WOW! This is FABULOUS! It's GOOD that you decorated your apartment like this!

Seriously, though, it's just a difference in taste, and this just ain't my thang. But I like the windowshade-art idea very much.

Oh well. It's kindv cute, the whole "look at the view!" But the view does not make the apartment cool or creatively pimped out or whatever. As I did the scroll down and saw the second photo, I had such high hopes for the third photo. This entry is disappointing. Sigh.

I didn't vote "not my thang," but I almost didn't vote at all.
