I have met the owner of Eco Design Resources (now relocated to Green Building Xchange). She is fantastic and a wealth of knowledge. She is an interior designer herself and started searching for green materials because of her own health concerns working with toxic materials. That's a great place to visit!

Cheers,
Cindy

GROAN for me on this one.

I am a stager in San Francisco bay area and have been in the business for 1.5 years. If I do this, I will definitely be fired on the spot by the clients. I think this is something that it's a great idea but failed short in execution. If you are strapped for cash and still need to give the buyers an idea how regular furnishing will work in the space, this is a great way to go. We generally think the space is smaller when we see it vacant. But at the pricing that the website offers, you can buy REAL furniture at similar price off craig's list, IKEA, goodwill or get them free from free cycle with a little bit TLC to update them. I think it's great that they are trying to bring warmth to the home by using accessories, but it still feels cold with white cardboard furnishing. The only thing that I am concerned about is that staging is not really about selling the furniture on the floor, it's to get buyers to notice the space and to realize the potential of the homes. This is very uncommon staging practice, I wonder if the buyers will get too distracted by poking at the cardboard furniture and not notice the home itself.

There are a lot of different ways to stage the home even if the budget is really tight, I have certainly worked with sellers who have that issue. I am actually going to blog about that for free money finance in September (sorry shameless plug there)

Cheers,
Cindy

That's great! That's exactly the kind of business that I want to be -- just word of mouth and happy clients. I also browsed their website, it's very inspiring. I have personally used many movers in the bay area since I used movers before buying my own cargo van for transporting my staging inventory. I have to say that this rate is VERY reasonable. THANKS for pointing me onto this!

Cheers,
Cindy

if you don't mind DIY... you can use two identical file cabinet/drawers on each side then prop a large wooden plank/table surface/salvaged wooden doors. that could do the trick ;)

I do like the headboard, but I wonder how many shelves I can put on there and how much weight it can hold. (I've got lots of books!)

I KNOW! When the heck will we get one here in SF? I am from Taiwan originally and now I stock up on my muji when I go home. My mother thinks I am crazy ;) I actually shopped at muji when I was in Germany traveling. I was like MUJI! We have to go in! And now my German friend is an addict as well.

Cheers,

Cindy

ah, if you want to DIY it.. you can buy the table legs from ikea, which has a pretty wide selection. if you can find a used door somewhere in the house you are not using or off junk yards. just prop it on your legs. viola!

It's SO beautiful. Somehow he made everything works together. I really like the contrasts and the colors. Also LOVE how he pulls the reminders from his travels for his home. I wonder how much time he spent on C's L & ebay to find all these great stuff?

Cheers,

Cindy
