I also am baffled by the Midwest hate! I've lived in Indy for 10 years (Chicago before that) and I love them both. As indyjeffery said we have plenty of culture and things to do here. I was a bit hesitant to move here at first but have found it to be a wonderful city.

I agree with most of the comments but I have to say that I have my phone (on low brightness and volume off) when I am at the movies etc because I am paranoid that my babysitter may need me. I know parents have been going to movies etc for many years without the constant connection of a phone, but it helps me relax to know they could reach me if needed. I wouldn't dream of answering it IN the theater - I just look at it as a notification.

I have to go with the majority. Art is way too personal to give as a gift unless you are 100% sure they love it.

You may love giving art or thinking that your friend or family member fondly remembers you while looking at it on their wall, but more often than not it only serves as an obligation.

As a scientist and mother I would err on the side of caution and use other plates. Anecdotal evidence is not the same as a scientifically controlled study. Just because someone's grandmother smoked for 50 years and was never sick a day in her life doesn't mean cigarettes are safe. Don't live in fear, but do make educated choices when you can. Best of luck!
