I would keep the room locations as they are in the diagram. Take the bedroom on the left for yourself and your husband, as privacy is likely more important for the married couple. In the other bedroom, turn the bed sideways so it sits against the kitchen wall, and then screen or curtain it off, so there is a private area within that room, and you can walk through to the kitchen without bothering him too much. Also, maybe let him have his own bathroom to compensate for having a high-traffic bedroom.

I use one end of my towel bar as a hairdryer holster. If I wasn't a renter, I would put a towel rack on the side of the sink vanity, so it would be out-of-sight.

Not sure if this will work without seeing the 4th wall, but my suggestion is to put it on the wall where the couch is, and put the couch facing the fireplace, leaving a walkway behind it.

Where To Place Television In New Living Room?

I like how your bed is up on the platform, and I think that's the most logical place for it if you want separate living and sleeping spaces. It seems that you like to watch TV from your bed - could you fit one of the end tables at the foot of your bed with the TV on it?

Maybe you can face the wardrobe or bookshelf out into the living space with its back to the platform, and use that as a room divider? Or put the bookshelf so it extends the little hallway and separates it from the bathroom? The backs are probably pretty unattractive, but you could put up some sort of hanging to cover it using some of those removable 3M hooks. (Would they really notice tape or anything on the back of a bookcase when you moved out?)

If you don't mind spending a little bit of money, I'd suggest a very long tension rod (the kind with removable shelves that go in the corner of a shower stall usually extend to 9'). Put it up right at the edge of the platform and get some cheap Ikea curtains (or a fun printed flat sheet) to hang from it. That would help divide up your living spaces and add some color to the room.

For a long row of pictures, I use string. Measure the height from the floor at each end of the wall, and then tape a piece of string that runs the length of the wall, from one mark to another. You still need to check your work with a level, but this saves a lot of time on measuring and marking, because you only have to worry about the horizontal spacing.
