This makes me want to go to OSH asap, but I have always had a problem with moving plants from outdoors in. No matter how carefully I wait for the soil to dry out before watering again, nor how much homemade soapy spray or storebought "safe" spray I use, I always seem to have terrible tiny black bugs in the soil of the plants I bring in from outside - kinda like fruit flies? So now my outdoor plants stay outdoors and indoor plants stay indoors. :( Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | Indoor Meyer Lemon Trees for Winter |

boneless chicken thighs + mole sauce + tablespoon or two of peanut butter. cooked 'til self-shredding. served in lettuce cups with homemade pico de gallo and extra cilantro, plus a crushed tortilla chip or two and an extra squirt of lime. yum! i don't know...we create vignettes all over the rest of the house out of our functional items, why not inside the fridge? we certainly do it in our fruit bowls and on our pantry shelves. (are the people who empty their bulk grains and pastas and legumes into glass jars that they line up on a shelf and then admire not copping to "thoughtful arrangement"?) with summer goodness starting to explode in the csa box, i'm using the processor a lot (omg pesto). earlier in the year it was the kitchen aid - lots of baking. for non-plug-in tools, it's the hand reamer - lemons and limes for everything from tea to humus to salad dressing to guac! i quit with the paper towels some time ago. i use cut up t-shirts, enough of them so i always have clean ones. i keep a cute plastic basket from target hanging off a hook in the kitchen. all rags go in there until laundry day. Apartment Therapy New York | A Paper Towel-less Life |

michelle: lard is first choice. the drippings out of a cast iron pan that has had any salty meat cooked in it (cut with canola oil if you need more), sausage drippings, etc. will also do. barring that, you can find some 'healthy' shortening at some grocery stores, basically a cleaned up version of crisco that doesn't have hydrogenated oils in it. well, back when i had a w/d in my place, my most hated chore was vacuuming. but now that i have to go to a laundromat, it is definitely the 2 hours of hauling the dirty clothes to the car in their heavy tub, trying to snag washers and dryers somewhat close to each other, hauling all the heavy detergent in a backpack, not being able to hang clothes up straight from the dryer, sitting with a bag of damp clothes that i will line dry when i get home, etc etc etc. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Most Hated House Chores |

i'd mount it on the wall behind a window-seat type bench so i could lean against it while reading but the cat hair would stay out of it. kinda like snuggly wallpaper... Apartment Therapy New York | Thursday Giveaway: Flokati Rug from Rugs USA |

yes, it's garbanzo, which i bought "green" for the first time a month ago at the hispanic market. too bad no one told me i wasn't supposed to shell them before i cooked them. only after i'd suffered through the whole pile did someone make it clear to me i should have done them like edamame: in the shell, steamed, and with salt. all my attempts at bamboo boards ended with them coming apart at the lamination joints or getting badly stained there. i like my plain wood one for everything but raw meat. i can't convince myself to use anything but plastic for the raw meat. i'm starting to suspect the best bet is to make peace with getting the metal mesh foldable ones and accessorize with awesome bags. the hook-and-go doesn't protect your stuff from getting squished by all the people who bump into you at a crowded market. if i had perfectly ripe peaches dangling from it and they got mashed by someone's shins as that someone tried to reach over me for a handful of artichokes, i'd be pretty peeved. i'd go for it. i was always wishing our sofa was deeper so me and the bf could both lay on it while watching tv. for that reason i'm totally into the really deep sofa PB used to sell (maybe still does?). presumably you will also have side chairs, so if a guest has a problem with the deep sofa, they can sit in the chairs. me, i'll sit cross-legged at your house and complement you on your stylin' wood sofa.
