I used some vinegar + a Mr. Clean magic eraser to remove some paint specks and a big black streak from our washer (it must have rubbed up against something black and rubber during the move). It worked like a charm. Vintage Tiles: Uncovering a Secret |

I just had a really long debate with myself about getting a tea kettle. I couldn't decide if I wanted to go traditional or electric. Ultimately, I went with a Bodum Bistro 34 oz. electric kettle. I couldn't trust myself to tend my boiling water even if the kettle did whistle, and the Bodum won't boil dry. In ANY case, if I didn't get the Bodum, this is definitely the kettle I wanted. So cute! I love the cork handle, too :-) Uplift Kettle Daily Find |

My plants look pretty pitiful in the middle of the day in the central Texas heat, but they perk up once the sun passes by a little. Don't worry about those peppers, though. Once the heat backs off just a bit, it's gonna be pepper city :-) Re-Nest On... Extreme Weather and Everyday Life |

Over at The Natural Gardener in Austin, they keep their squash under row cover from the get go. How they pollinate, I don't know. Those were the healthiest looking squash plants I've ever seen, though. Combatting Garden Foes: The Squash Vine Borer |

I was contemplating this very thing as I put spoiled food in the composter last night. In an attempt not to buy more than we need, the hubs and I are going to make more frequent, small trips to the store, rather than one big trip every week or two. When we make a big trip, that food tends to go bad before we can eat it all. Hopefully this new strategy will be effective. Re-Nest On... Rethinking Food and Waste |

Do hit up your local Goodwill for a cute mix of plates if you have to host a party for more folks than you have dishes. You'll be surprised by the fun selection. Mix up pitchers of tea, lemonade, or cider to serve beverages or opt for highly recyclable materials like beverages in glass bottles instead of plastic disposables. Finally, I am so inspired by the pomanders in this photo! I am going to get some started tonight :-D How To Be a Green Host Without Pushing An Agenda |

Just this weekend my fiancé and I noted that we needed to add on to our mini-recycling station in our office to complement our main set up near the garage. We have to separate plastic film from our other recyclables, and all of these little bits of plastic wrap were floating around our office waiting to make it downstairs. Just by designating a separate container in the office for those little bits, it's helped us be more tidy and efficient. How To Set Up a Home Recycling Station That Works |

That's interesting that they're not required to list all of their ingredients . . . not that I ever looked that closely, I suppose. Either way, I definitely miss buying expensive, toxic stuff when I can get a vat of vinegar for crazy cheap. Chemical News: Study Shows Toxins in Scented Cleaners |
