Loved this tour. The layout, the wide pictures, the flow of the presentation. Just can't figure out the bath product shots at the end. Seems odd at best.

I know you don't want to recane it, but I did a chair like this using bkack paracord instead of cane. It worked like a charm.

As tacky as it may seem, please bring/serve the food in disposable containers. Otherwise one sleep deprived parent cleans dishes for an hour or the dishes stack up next to the sink.
A roast would easily reheat and would be nice for the holidays. And maybe some almost all the way baked potatoes so they an just throw them in the oven.
Desserts of any kind are great but cookies would do double duty as easy snacks for a few days after.

Experiment with defrosting it in a bowl of water (if it was frozen to start with). Works for some products, others get too soft.

I'm guessing you mean the faux meat items since tofu stays tender to a fault sometimes.

I was 26 before I was able to get rid of all the "heirloom" stuff non-family people gave my parents when I was born. I felt too guilty to give it away even thought I didn't need/like any of it.

However, I did keep all the books. That's my vote.

Or a set of cute non plastic baby spoons. Bad days are made better with ice cream & tiny spoons.

@Trish1980 I use a medium or large sized canning jar (the kind with a ring and a lid). In the jar, I add the quinoa and enough water to cover in by an inch. I shake it around for a minute or two, and then carefully pour out the water by keeping the flat lid on the jar as much as possible. It is somewhat like draining a can of tuna.
Then, I dump the jar into the pot. You can use your spoon to get all the quinoa out of the jar and the jar rinses clean.
Like others have said, it isn't always a must to rinse it. But, I prefer it rinsed.

Canning tongs are a must for safety reasons. I did the rubber band on the tongs thing for a while and one day asked myself "Is a trip to the hospital worth saving the $8 for canning tongs?"
Yes, the rubber band tongs "work", but when it comes to stability, the real canning tongs work better

A little bit more $, but a collapsible funnel is the way to go. Easy to store.
I bought mine because I was tired of burning myself while canning.
Though, still no ice cube trays. We just put an inch or two of water in a glass and stick it in the freezer. Ice + a frosted glass.

I have an old metal one that works like a charm. Butter spritz cookies, yum.
If your cookies are sticking to the pan, your dough is too dry or too cold. And, remove the press from the pan very slowly.

Somehow I think hiding them all in the bedroom would seem was more creepy. Wherever the piece looks best is my vote. Though, it should be noted we did once lose a craiglist sale of our couch likely because the couple's 10 year old son was fix eyed on the one above the mantel. They left pretty quickly.

bring a "welcome" box (pack it in your car- not the moving van) containing TP, soap, a few towels, a couple glasses and some granola bars. At very least you have you 1st morning all set to go without a big trip to the store.
