We've been very happy with our Boba, which we use for our three year old. It's much easier than a wagon or a stroller on a city street! The neutral colors, sturdy construction, and ability to carry a child up to 4 years/45 pounds sold us on it. We're looking forward to using it with our next child, as well.

I've done this with a pen at some really crowded events, like our state farm show. The tat is nice and neat, but a pen is cheaper and almost always available.

Bitty Baby is my husband's grandmother's traditional first Christmas gift for all of the granddaughters -- and now, great-granddaughters. My 22 month old has been enamored with her Bitty Baby since she got it last year.

We bought the larger of the two Alex kitchens for my five year old for Christmas this year. It seems pretty nice, just having pulled it out of the box to check for shipping damage et al. I will probably try to make some kind of DIY fridge or hack a cabinet for it to sit upon for food and dish storage, as well, but that will come well after the holidays.

After a crib entrapment with our youngest child (who is alive and fine today, thank goodness), I am a big advocate of the low, fixed-side Ikea cribs, thin mattresses, and a lack of clutter in cribs.

This actually looks like an excellent purse/treasure bag for everyday use. Would be a shame to only pull out once a year as a stocking.

I was also thinking these would be great gifts. Now to figure out who's crafty and would find this useful...

After seeing an entry last week about recycling old refrigerator magnets -- and having our nap subsequently interrupted AGAIN by our Nosy Parker neighbor ringing the bell -- I think I am going to whip up a "baby sleeping" sign of my own.

We live in an area of the country that is big on plastic bags, and the unnecessary use of plastic bags. (Bagging gallons of milk? What the..?) I usually have to explain that I'm not trying to buy my reusable bag, and that it's not necessary to put my items in plastic bags, then put those bags in my reusable bag. The dread of that annoyance is usually enough to remind me that I need to bring my bags along.

That, and I try to keep a minimum of two bags in my purse at all times. I have several from Target which crumple into their own attached pouch, which I have found to be very convenient.

Painting something with tons of bars or spindles could be kind of tedious. Beyond that, I can't think of why it would be difficult.

I'm seconding the suggestion of the IKEA Hermelin crib (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60116007). We bought one for our daughter, and added punch pink and white striped bedding I found at a Pottery Barn outlet. I think it looks pretty sharp, if I do say so.

Perhaps something like this -- http://www.laundry-alternative.com/washing.htm -- would work for your reusable cloths. I'm sure you could make it work for some of your other laundry, as well, and cut down on trips to the launderette.

I swear by the above-listed fruit fly death trap. After being away from home for a month and returning to find that the disposal had not been properly cleared (not a good "welcome home" surprise), it got rid of our resulting swarm within a day.

Instead of the flat plaster impressions (or variations thereof), you could do a 3D mold of the hands instead. (Like these: http://www.castingkeepsakes.com/)
