I have tried so many diets in the past but have always, always failed because I was no longer able to eat anything I truly enjoyed.

I had a baby last July and gained 70 lbs through the pregnancy. I made the decision to drastically change my eating habits while still being able to enjoy the things I crave (every once in awhile). I combined that mindset with regular exercise and have since lost every single pound. Alton Brown's method mentioned above is what worked for him and the mindset that he had to place himself in. It's going to be different for everyone but you must be able to enjoy it as well.

The only appealing thing about this home is the gorgeous garden and outdoor area. I guess I just expect more from AT than a mismatch of colors and 1990 decor.

I think this is a great idea for someone like my mom or grandma (as the post states). Living 600 miles from my family, I'm not always around to help them with their 'problems.' If they want to pay a professional to do these mundane services for them, I say...more power to them. Setting up cable, internet or even a Playstation is not easy for everyone.

This is great! It would be a smart solution for the person who has to place their office in a common area such as the living room. An office area without the office look.

We're recently married with a baby and moving back in with the parents (gasp) seems to be our next step. We're trying not to look at it as a step down because we're giving ourselves the opportunity to gather a savings and not live in a debt rut. Of course, we'll eventually be able to move out and that will be our much needed step forward. I also agree with heather77, keeping up an active social life will not cramp your style and will not cramp up the living situation as much.

Rebekkap, yes you're right. Ooops! I meant to say, in our state (at least in my area) recycling is non-existent unless you want to drive over an hour to "go green."

It's too bad the design ideas on her actual show are horrible because this place is very well put together--high rent or not.

I LOVE THIS ROOM! I would have died over something like this as a child. The colors, the canopy, the cleanliness, it's all just great. I also agree about the monogram pillows, adorable!
