Actually jenawithonen who said "just as a 'duh', guys -- taxidermied animals are done so AFTER death, not killed for the specific purpose" that's exactly what taxidermy is for. Duh! To kill an animal, then showcase it like a barbarian to show other humans how superior you are to animals.

This house a graveyard for dead animals. Almost every room has some poor stuffed animal or skin on display. Really creepy.

Essential oils are extremely toxic to pets, so I would not recommend using anything on your rugs or furniture where pets will lay. Even after you vacuum, the oils could still leave residue that get into the pets hair and your pet will eventually digest it during grooming. I don't even touch my pets after applying my lavender lotion in the morning.

I thought this place looked familiar! I rented an author's loft in this building for a week in 2007. AMAZING building, view and rooftop! Love that rooftop! Well done Ivonne, makes me want to move there. One thing I really remember about the staircase is how each floor had some different art doodle on the floor number, like in picture 4.

And, yes it looks ghetto from the outside, but its a relatively safe neighborhood...or at least it was in 2007.

Flora Grubb offers some better inspiration for a good concept. And yes, this one has too much moss, doing it a great injustice.

I'm sorry AT but I have to agree. I love this site and what it represents and I am very disappointed, and feel a little betrayed, that you would highlight someone's home that is tainted with animal blood. Ringling is the epitome of animal cruelty. It would be different if say, she was related to the Ringling family and chose not to associate herself, personally and financially, with the business due to ethical reasons. I would admire her for that! But that's not the case. Ms. North strikes me as a hypocritical and egocentric individual for posing there with her dogs as though she's some kind of animal lover when she actually worked there and claims to be so proud of the circus. Shame on you and shame on her. Boo.

Pretty small table cloth/runner! It really picks up the different colors of the books.

If you live in an place that is prone to get ants when it rains, as I am, then be sure to get one that is ant/pest proof! Pet food is expensive and it would be a shame to have to throw away the whole bin because ants got in it, not to mention the waste. Also, keeping it in a cool dry place will prevent little bugs from growing inside. This happened with our doggie treats kept in a glass Ikea jar we used to keep on the counter which gets a lot of sun. Gross!

It looks as though you don't have an exhaust fan over the stove. If this is the case, be careful with hanging any art above the stove. Moisture from cooking can totally ruin a print. Alternatively I hung a canvas painting my wife did over the stove in our old apartment, which also had no exhaust fan, and while the painting did fine we discovered the wall had become warped and cracked right behind the canvas after only a year. :o( Good luck!

I'm not sure where I stand on these trailers, however something else did catch my attention that I do have an opinion on. And I haven't read everyone's posts, so if this has already been mentioned I apologize for being repetitive.

Is that a WalMart advertisement on this page?! WalMart represents everything opposite of what I thought Apartment Therapy stood for. I am truly disappointed. Shame shame.

We are not 100% paper towel free, however we do use vintage hankies for our napkins. They are fun and can be washed with the dishes then air dried after meals.

I love yellow tile in a kitchen...with antique appliances. But nothing really calls out to me here, except the glass cabinets. That would keep my cabinets in order!

This is a beautiful concept. What does the inside of the fence look like (the side faces the yard)? Is is as aesthetically pleasing as well or does the frame take away from it?

My favorite photo is of my 2 beloved daschunds, Babs and Buster. During a water ski tournament in 2004 they sat perched in front of me watching carefully as I ate a sandwich--naturally food obsessed little beasts! The picture, looking down at them, captures their dreamy eyes gazing up and tongues literally wrapping around their snouts (at exactly the same time). This was of course a miracle shot considering how fast those little tongues can move.

Babs, my longhaired sweetheart, passed in April of this year and Buster, the talker and perpetual kisser, followed shortly in July. Born mere hours apart in August of 1991 and never apart for more than 2 days, I guess those 3 months were just too much for poor Buster to stand without his sister. My little sweetie-pies, this picture is my absolute favorite.
