I have a small hallway which is short enough for a shower curtain rod to be installed up high and out of visual view. I can hang clothes with regular hangers on it. The bonus: a wall heater also services this hallway. This means that I don't use the clothes dryer during the winter months!

It's a great looking remodel, but was there any additional waterproofing on the walls, either with roof felt underneath the boards or redguard / Kerdi over it?

if it's clean enough to wear again, it's flipped inside out when I take it off and hung back in the closet. That way I know immediately it has been worn once already, and the closet stays organized.

nice job. I'd recommend doing a test spray with the bitter apple first. My dog was actually drawn to it and chewed everything I sprayed.

I always had fished out the 3 popped kernels because I thought they'd burn. Now I go w/o the test kernels and just wait until I can feel the heat from the oil (mixed with a 1/2 tsp of salt) with my hand above the pan. I add 1/2 cup (or one-layer) of kernels and stir it around with a heat-proof spatula. When the initial mini-pops begin, I add 1/4 cup of sugar (1/2 the amount of popcorn or less) and quickly stir that around as well so the sugar will melt,. Then I quickly cover it with a splash guard AND a paper towel over the splash guard (otherwise, the hot sugar splashes through the splash guard. If you don't add sugar, you don't need the paper towel). The sugar (white or brown) will burn if cooked too long, so dumping out the popcorn as soon as it slows is a good idea. I cover the bowl with the splash guard for any errant pops, then quickly wipe the pan w/ the paper towel while the sugar oil is still hot and fluid in the pan. Stir the bowl just a little bit so the sugared popcorn doesn't stick on the bowl while it cools. It's not extremely sweet, and it's SOO crunchy!

I had looked into installing these just a couple weeks ago. They're very expensive! I got an installation bid from 3 contractors ranging from $1500 to $1800, and this is NOT including the equipment itself, which runs another $900 to $1500! Maybe because of the fact that they are uncommon in the US is the reason for the expense? The contractors explained that they need to install a condenser well and a dedicated electrical outlet outside, permit from the city, etc. I was very disappointed and offset by the costs.

I'm a little surprised no one suggested this - cat poop. If you don't have a cat, I'm sure someone else will donate their litter box remains. I read this suggestion a while ago when reading about "roof rats". People would leave cat poop in the walls where the roof rats crawled up to access the roof. Okay, worth a try. I left my cat's poop in a bag in a garage and never saw a mouse again.
