This is just fascinating to me! What I wouldn't give to be one of the photographers exploring these buildings!!

We just got "weddinged" this year, so our wedding registry is still up. I'm hoping people will be smart enough to check there if they can't come up with something on their own. I know it's the thought that counts, but I'm so tired of getting pajamas and make-up bags every year from the same people.

My husband and I have this exact same problem(?). Eventually, we will turn half the room into a nursery, but until we are ready to have a baby, I want to turn the opposite corner into sitting area. Our sitting area will have an oversized chair and perhaps an ottoman, a small side table for placing one's water glass, a lamp (either standing or on the table) and something to break up the space like a bookcase or a shoji screen (which is also helpful because I enjoy staying up late reading, but my husband wants to go straight to sleep, so a divider of some kind would keep the light out of his eyes).

Our apartment has a laundry closet that lost its doors to a previous tenant so we use curtains to give our hallway a tidier look by closing off that part. The hallway is also quite dark so we used a bright and cheery curtain to bring in more light.

Shoe store. Definitely. Something about the combination of leather, rubber and canvas. After that I would say blackcurrants, chai, and LUSH Cosmetics' Sultana soap. I love the smell of cucumber, but because it's clean and fresh, not because I consider it sexy. I also love the smell of warm pumpkin baked goods, but I'm most definitely female (just addicted to pumpkin).

That's actually how we picked our current house. It's basically zombie-proof. Our front door is very hard to find (not exactly welcoming, but it keeps the zombies and Jehovah's Witnesses away), the house is impossible to climb on, the walls are made of rock (to deflect any zombies engulfed in fire) and it's on a hill (zombies aren't so good with hills). It also has a window over the front door that is large enough to throw hot tar or confetti out of (zombies love a good party!). We have surprised our friends by throwing things out of the window more than once... And if they *do* get in the house, there are areas that will bottleneck them while we pick them off. There is also a loft bedroom with a window so we can pick them off at the street level and the room has a very narrow anchored spiral staircase to give them some trouble. No wonder we call it The Fortress! :)

I came into the 20/20 way late, but can I just say that I love Maxwell's little videos? He's so calm and softspoken. Very relaxing. :)

At the end of every season I take my favorite cards (whether it be for the design or the message inside) and clue magnets to the back of them. Voila! Instant Christmasification for your fridge! In our last apartment we had a metal front door which also got the pretty Christmas card treatment. I miss that door...

We have a very large, but also very dark bathroom with no windows. For some reason unbeknownst to me, they felt canister lighting would be great, but didn't think it was necessary to put a light in the shower which is quite a distance away from the canister lights over the sink. We can't paint or add fixtures and, while bright accessories are great, it's still quite difficult to shave your legs when you can't see what you're doing. I'm starting to get used to showering in the dark, but I wish there was some way of fixing this problem.

Another tip, give size comparisons! Just because you give dimensions doesn't mean I have a tape measure at work and can figure out if it will work in my space. Sit in the chair and post a picture of that, maybe giving your height. If I'm taller than you and the chair looks too short for you it's definitely going to be too short for me. Just an example.

My parents kept the calendar from the year my mom was pregnant with me so I know the dates of when they found out, when they told everyone (and their reactions!), and every little pregnancy milestone. She circled my due date and counted every day I was late after that. Then there was a big star and exclamation points on my birth date followed by well baby check-ups and documenting my first grin. I treasure that little calendar to this day.

I have done this with pieces of pretty fabric that were too small to use, but too big to just throw away. My grandmother left me about 50 canvases of different sizes in her will and, since I don't paint, I just stretch the fabric over the canvases and staple. Looks great every time and, if I ever take up painting, I can just reclaim the canvases!

We do collect a lot of Halloween and Christmas decorations, but I try to limit it to two bins worth for each holiday. There are a few things that just won't fit in the bins and they get a pass. All of our holiday decorations fit in half of a large walk-in closet, so I don't think that's too bad. Our Halloween decor is limited to vintage horror movie posters, decorative skulls (just bought a really awesome mercury glass skull that is gorgeous and so unique!) and the occasional bat as well as lots of fall foliage decorations. We don't do the gory stuff because I really can't stand it being in my house when I'm walking around with no glasses in the dark.

I'm probably going to get laughed off of the blog, but if you do have to resort to a futon, they have some really nice, modern ones at Target and Walmart that don't look like futons at all. We just bought one to try it out in place of our couch and we love it! And it was very well priced!

I'm not a design expert or anything, but since you love modern style so much, there are some great modern-looking futons out there that look more like a couch than a futon. We just bought one to replace a couch and will replace our other couch next payday. They look AWESOME! And no one knows they are futons until we unfold them and then they are amazed! Most people think they are new, cool modern couches. :)
