Just go to your local cabinet maker and have them cut/rout/make the piece you are looking for.
These questions are really starting to get frustrating as it seems to show customers need to by something ready made or manufactured. There was a time when people didn't go to Target to get what they wanted, they would go to a craftsman to get exactly what they were looking for. Heck a cabinet maker is probably closer than any other solution.
P.S. you'd be surprised how far a 6 pack of good beer will go in this instance!

Your rug is woven the carpet is woven, right? Why not stitch the corners and a few points along the edge with a Speedy Stitcher $10 from Campmor. Its easy enough just cut when its time to move or clean and the rug WON"T MOVE.

This is all so SILLY! Yeah I know "silly"! But it is.
My girl and I bought a Blue Spruce in a 2.5 gallon can and decorate it every year as our X-mas tree. This is year three and it finally graduated to a 5 gallon container. Now it gets the bonzi treatment until we can plant it. Now we get to see "Bruce" year round and never have to drop serious coin on a tree every year. But I still do miss cutting a tree.
I used to go into the forest every year and cut my own tree (& loved doing it) I no longer live in the forest so I can't. Sounds like a crime but it really isn't. The overpopulation of trees in the forest around my home was due to the anti forest fire stance that the public has taken. As a result the forest had way too much downed timber (100 years worth), the one tree a year was actully helping. The year after I moved away the forest service paid a company to company to come in and set things straight. They tore out all the under brush. Took out all the downed timber and cut down all of the "extra" trees leaving behind a healthy mix of species a balence of fir, pine and cedar. It was a good thing too since the next summer some yahoo started a forest fire that made its way through my neighborhood burning down homes that hadn't maintained their tree population properly. If the forest hadn't been cleared out the story would have been a world story instead of a local story as Tahoe City and the local forest burnt to the ground.
Long story short. Buy a tree in a bucket and add it to your garden in the off season or buy one seasonaly. It doesn't really matter. The fake one's are the real crime.

I thought for quite a while that West Elm had really cool well built goods. All the pink clouds and fluffly unicorns disappered when I walked through the doors of the new Seattle store. POOF!! just like that- gone. They tout Mango wood like it is some revelation- it's not. Generally the quality is on par with Ikea, as stated. I build furniture and the test I issue each piece it to lean back in it and bounce. None have broken; but if it does I haven't done my job and in this case West Elm hasn't either.

This reads like Aseop's fable- country mouse, city mouse. Tried the city I am definitely a country mouse. If I want noise I can find it or I can make it. I can barely handle trying to sleep in a hotel in NYC but the change of coyotes for screaming people @ 3 am and big ass trucks that shake the building from 4 am to 7 am is .....unique!

The house in the first picture is great! I live near it and if it wasn't for the bright orange glow from Tacoma at night, the freight trains blasting thier horns just across the water every hour at night, the lound noise of the traffic hitting the expantion plates on the bridges and the 9 months of dreary weather; I'd love to live there. Pictures are worth a 1000 words but there are two worth more than the price of the house, don't bother

Snark snark. This is funny. If there are any hesitations build a sub frame of 2x4's trimmed so that they fit just inside the skirt-baseboard-plinth-moulding-facade-structure-casing-wonderhowitholdsthatthingupey thing, and attach the casters to that. You know a square within a square. Removing the "bottom piece" would mess with the lines since the it mirrors the top of the unit. Besides it hiding the structure for the wheels it is a prime canidate for the details of the twofer paint job.
Have fun wit it!!

Sounds like fun!! I almost wish I lived on the west coast just so I could reno apartments like this!
I'd grab a hidden corner or the apartment and start doing tests. Start with wax to polish-remove with vinegar or ammonia, if necessary. If thats no good then sand with 220 or finer and test small samples of different types of finishes. Varathane makes floor finishes that are waterbased. For a green solution look at tung oil or linseed oil from realmilkpaint.com
or biosheild awua resin for floors. So many options. Good luck and have fun with it!

After visiting and then living in a lake community and seeing many of the houses it is amazing how they capture the best of friends and family and make everyone who live and visit there see and enjoy the best there is in life. This home does that perfectly.

Contact me for that dining table light......something that lights the table but takes advantage of the height of the room would be amazing!

I had a standing desk all through college. I earned my degree in 3.5 years, (and no it was not an easy, online, or otherwise college). Maybe the desk had something to do with it, eh?
Also, after visiting Sweden this summer; it was made very apparent to me that standing desks are encouraged in the work place, especially in the government sector. My sister-in-law and her co-workers have adjustable height desks and most of them are all set to the standing height.

Frankly-I think, no-I KNOW, all the hyming and hawing is BS! If you do your research, as anyone should on a company, and it looks up to snuff, go for it! Otherwise, why sit back and ponder the whole "is it too good to be true?" Grade B? Yeah probably. Use your logic here. OK, they're probably not going to send out a seasoned pro, it'll be an intern or a newby, Is that so bad? Just use it to your advantage. As a small business owner doing custom lighting and furniture it KILLS ME when people whine "it's too much!" Then when I start cutting my bottom line so I can offer the same quality at lower prices the customers think they are getting ripped off. Then I can't pay my bills and have to raise my prices again just to afford my new down graded llifestyle. What is wrong with you? The product is the same, the life guarantee is the same. And you think your getting duped? The state of this market is psychotic.
In short- Be smart. Be bold. Be honest. Do it right the first time.
