I had a cowhide rug. I loved the look of it. I have never heard anyone talk about them with substantive complaints....
It showed wear on the hair near where the legs joined the body and always shed a fair amount of its' mainly white hair. That did not look good on my red upholstery. I chose a lighter colored hide as the dark one in the store showed every speck on it. Short white hairs are hard to get off upholstery.

As always, to each his own, but I too love this place. It exemplifies my idea of the ultimate luxury, space and lots of it. It feels very honest and uncontrived, totally purposeful. Something else I appreciate is that it appears as though they moved in to an undiscovered gem and all the work they must have done is not in your face but an enhancement of the reality of the space.

Love the home and the aesthetic.
Buster1, my thought is that most children would benefit from stunting if this is what a stunted environment is. My apologies if this is a tongue-in-cheek comment.

Wow, a labrdoodle rug, rare from what I understand!
Nice place, really goes with that rug!

OK AT, you can stop doing House Tours now, you will never top this one in my book. So personal and even though full it does not seem overstuffed. To me a sense of humor is the most desirable quality in a human being, that makes you guys ultimate humans!

Pay no attention to the critics behind the curtain. To me it looks very individualized and perfectly well done. I wouldn't change a thing.

Love your place! The plant that "needed a trim" is as you know a Staghorn fern and is supposed to look like that, trimming would ruin it. I have not seen one planted like that, I love it. I got rid a nice one that was on a slab because watering it and then rehanging it on a wall was not practical but in a nice pot would solve that problem.
Your whole place looks just great and honest, not just staged.

Very nice! What I love about your space, besides your style, is it's honesty, nothing is pretending to be something it is not.
I continue to long to live in Austin where so many artistic types are drawn. We visited for a few hours once and now we long for more.

OK I am brave enough to admit here that I like IKEA. I think this place is lovely and well done. Don't be a snob about where furniture comes from. If you can afford it and it fits your sensibilities and needs then it is good. Bright, fun, practical, clean and uncluttered makes a place that I would love to live in. I certainly enjoyed seeing this tour. Thanks Naseem!

Nice place, love the typewriters, some things are just addictive,..........like Breyer horses, in the craftroom/office. I am old and I still can't stop looking at them and lusting after them.
Thanks for letting us in to see your place.

The space is grand to see. It is not what I would do but Gillian is not me. Very detailed and considered without being trite or expected. I love the green lawn/rug.
My main comment is to thank whomever for the expanded comments with the title to each photo. I really enjoy having some insight to each picture. Also, I love to see the feedback so generous in the comments from the "author of the space". Knowing what is the thinking about the space is as interesting as seeing it.
One of the things I most appreciate about this blog are some of the regulars who comment here. Fun stuff whether I agree or not.

Maybe I am the only one but I found the fish eye lens pics unsettling. House is nice, who could not love all that color. Seems like it might be sort of limited longevity decorating though. Still I appreciate the vision and effort.

Seems as though sooner or later most who post here see a house that just speaks to them, this is mine. No house is exactly the way someone else would have it, they are all personal reflections unless they are a showhome. I found this house perfectly cohesive and honestly balanced between high design and the stuff that demonstrates their past and tastes.
The beginning of the post states the Truants have lived here for 25 years, the Feng Shui must work for them.
The uncluttered vibe of this home feels calming to me and is indeed quite an accomplisment.
It is not my perfect home, but it probably is theirs.
Thanks for allowing us to visit.

The use of color is absolutely fearless. The marriage of one different room color to the adjacent one is amazing. They are not simply related but complementary (not just in a color wheel sense).
I am not understanding a negative comment for this or any other tour about being staged. If I posted pics of my place I would absolutely arrange (aka stage) it in a way that shows it to best advantage. I get that in daily life our spaces looks a bit looser and less perfect but we all have daily lives and are aware of how that looks. This is a moment in time sort of like the Oscars. Usually you dress up. In my opinion that is a good thing.

Wonderful and original home. Congrats Rene and Jerry.

To each their own. I think it is interesting that there is such a bias here against "dead animals". They are taxidermy examples and may be seen as a tribute to the animals beauty. Granted I don't find these lovely, especially so many gathered together in such a small space but this is a personal choice. I do agree that in this limited space they do not seem to earn their "keep".
Diversity is what makes our world interesting and I thank all who share their domains with the viewing public.
