I am a huge fan of local and apartment therapy so it's fantastic to see them together here. The owners couldn't be more hospitable, the coffee is delicious, and it's just a great space to relax and watch the world go by. And kids are welcome!

Can I kick myself harder for not posting more informative photos? sigh...

And thanks for the floorplan love. Now I know my one semester at FIT is not for naught.

thanks again, everyone. You all rock.

Hi All,
Thank you for your comments! I appreciate the feedback.

Jamie, The desk top was custom built by my husband. The legs are from Ikea.

Hazygrey, thank you for clarifying so many points. You're exactly right. And thanks for the props Wende in Phoenix!

Regarding flipping the bedroom and living room, we tried that arrangement. It seems to make sense, given the location of the kitchen, I agree! But having the master bedroom so close to the front door felt strange and we sleep better with this arrangement. Maybe one day we'll switch it again. I'd love to have a living room right off the kitchen. The closet in the bedroom is a custom freestanding armoire, so it could come with us, should we decide to switch.

We've also thought about taking the hallway down but for now, we've decided not to do a major renovation. The separation of space comes in handy especially now with the kids, and it makes the rooms more private. Plus, right now, the hallway is our bowling alley. It is an intriguing idea, though!

My apartment was posted for bedroom month and as an inside-out tour where you can see more pics.

Hello and thank you for all the props! For reading our bookspines and appreciating our work. We appreciate your appreciation, truly.

Here are some answers for those of you with questions:

MamaChilanga, thank you! We are in the same boat, huh? We do own our place. I sent a pic to AT of our layout to post as part of the tour. Hopefully it'll be up soon. Must check out the 1000 sq. ft. playroom. ;)

Michelle of Montreal, Hello and thanks! The cabinets along the windowed walls in the bedroom and living room are custom built-ins. Our carpenter cut the moldings away to fit the cabinets. It was a challenge living in one less room at a time for the few weeks he worked. They're made from 3/4" MDF. The heat is reduced due to the boxed in radiators but our apartment heats up so much that it's actually a good thing. Opening an adjacent cabinet door would let more heat into the room if necessary. The other custom furniture is free-floating (curtained armoire, triangle desk, etc.).

Hi Linda! Thanks for checking out our apartment tour. The kitchen table is originally from http://barsandbooths.com/ and I believe you can custom design your own through their site.

Thank you!
