I have a Dahon folding bike, and I love it. there's a bunch of models but mine is the 20" wheels (better for NYC, much safer with all the potholes than the smaller wheel ones) and it cost me about $300 dollars when I got it several years ago. It folds in the corner of my very small closet!

make these in rubber, like a croc, and it would make sense. just rinse it off easily. But material is a pain to clean. good idea I think... wrong material

last year I finally finished clearing the majority of clutter in my apartment, painted and really made the place comfy and airy. It was kind of addicting, once I got started, I wanted to just clear it all away. But a year later, I went on holiday to Spain (a few weeks ago) and realized that I took way too much stuff with me. Now I realize that this will always be a work in progress. Clutter, and the need to have 'things' tends to sneak up on you. And for the 'just in case' type of personality (me), you got to work just a little harder.

I have one of those old medicine cabinets (the kind that is actually carved in the wall with a mirror that opens left to right). Does anyone know of anyone that could do a custom mirror/door for an old medicine cabinet like this (I'm in NY)? It would look so cool if you could combine the 'frame' idea with the medicine cabinet and call it a day. Any ideas anyone?

can someone tell me where those wall lights are from in the top photo? I've been looking for these for some time, but have only seen table versions. Thanks lots

I wish I could remember the site I found my liners on, but it's a webpage that deals with items used for allergies, medical stuff, etc. The liners are the same ones that you see in hotels, and by far are the best blackout material to use. I'm not sure how they will look behind sheers (they are not as long as yours) but behind a regular curtain, they rock. do a little research online.

First, can I say... I LOVE the coffee table!

Second, who cares who has what anymore. Everyone is mid century crazy now, tomorrow it will be another trend. Home is about what feels good to you. As for the couch, I have the same problem with not being able to fit a proper couch in my apt, so I feel your pain. But I did some clever upholstering and no one recognizes I have a futon anymore. I think if you substituted two huge cushions (instead of 4 or 6), it might give a different feel. The only thing I'm not feeling in the room is the chair, too much of a 'set' vibe. A funky plush chair would round things out nicely, and not make things look too wicker heavy. Good luck, and please... keep that awesome table! cheers

my bedroom is in direct line with the front door, next to the livingroom (only room that gets some light too), so closing the door isn't a good option. So I make it every day, and I find I like turning down my bed just before I go to sleep, it's a new ritual for me (I was sleeping in a loft bed for years until recently).

I got these great cd/dvd drawers from a company I found online called Can-Am. Kinda expensive, but they won't tip forward (media gets heavy when you pack in those drawers), and look sleek. I now know where everything is, and in a fraction of the space the media was taking up before (the whole house, haha).

I love the small Vornado heater (similar look to the old fans). It literally warms a room in no time and is half the size of the de-longhi I used to have.

I had thousands of CDs to contend with and I ordered from this place in Canada I found online called Can Am. They are really cool to deal with and the product is really made well (not cheap, but worth it in my opinion). I got a 3 draw and a 2 draw slim CD drawer cabinet combo and stacked them (got the wheels too...) for CDs. Now I know where everything is, filed nice and neat. here's the link

question... I just did a whole re-do in my bedroom and now the dresser is very close to the steam pipe (2 inches on the bottom and 5 on the top). no other place to put it. Is there a 'suggested' space that things are supposed to be from a pipe or radiator? Also is there a material that can be put in between to diffuse the heat? My steam came up last night and it made me wonder if things could ever get hot enough to ever ignite (I know sounds a bit paranoid but....).

the wood probably won't resonate as nice with it painted, keep in mind it's an instrument not a dresser and built to sound good. BUT, it might look cool if you distress it a bit, make it look like an old saloon piano and get a cool stool to go with it.

this looks like an updated version of the original sponge painting kit that sold in the 80's (which is great for some areas, corners....I use sponges along with a roller when I paint). It is a bit faster and I use sponges for touch ups too. THe only problem with the sponge is that it doesn't glide across old walls very well and can really exhaust your arms. I wouldn't decide on either/or with this, use whatever tool for each area. I still use a brush for tight corners... old skool, tried and true!

I just went thru this recently, same situation. I put little foam things on the points of the platform under the bed so I don't get bruised (I have about 12 inches at the foot of the bed and less on the side of the window. BUt I painted the room antique white Benjamin Moore, which is very soft, and the windows and borders Dove White, and the two together really opened up the room. White silk (fake silk) curtains from BB&B, really cheap, & white bedding in different textures and two tiny stands on each side of the head of the bed with lamps For about $600 bucks you can do the whole room. light from the floor it makes the room look more open than the overhead. You still will have to crawl over the bed to the window a lot of the time but it won't feel as bad!
