I love steaming them, but I don't eat dairy so I dip the leaves in Orangette's amazing walnut crema which I thin out with lemon juice. Bliss.

I have one of these and love it! It's fun to spiralize beets and use the tendrils to make pink lemonade. Also works well for apples and carrots when making a salad. Someone above mentioned using it to make shoestring fries, but I'd be concerned about them burning since the spirals are so thin. If you don't have a food processor, you could use this as a tool when you make latkes or zucchini fritters.

Here's another vote for World's Best. It's safe for cats, safe for humans, safe for the environment, and although it's more expensive it lasts WAAAAY longer than other brands I've tried. It's also great at absorbing odors. As for tracking, I think you'll have a problem with that regardless of any special mats or products you buy. Cats get it stuck between their toes and in their fur, so it's just a part of pet ownership you'll have to accept.

My dad is a chef, and the sound of him working in the kitchen was always so soothing to me as I was growing up. There are even photos of me asleep in his spare arm as he stirs/bakes/etc with his other arm. Even now the sound of cooking is very relaxing to me, and the surest way to the best nap of my life is 5 minutes of the Food Network.

The author talks about leftover millet being unusable because it's dry. To get around this, just reheat it with a little water in the microwave. Ain't no thang.

@ Zerinia: I echo what Jess13 said. Also, I read this article from more of a "here are some alternatives" point of view. Like what if you don't have any heavy cream on hand? What if you're allergic to dairy? From that perspective I think this is a useful post, though I think they have taken some liberties with the title as these are not exactly what I'd call "brilliant" ideas. They've been around for decades and have even been written about previously on this site.
