@Jenjo: The bases of Tulip tables are made of metal and come in white or black. (I've seen knock-offs with silver metal bases as well.) But not wood - hard to form wood that large into that shape.

Tops (of authorized versions) can be various woods, or laminate, or marble, and possibly other stuff I don't know about/can't remember.

Agree that "Call me back" voicemails can be mildly irritating. On the other hand, if I just see someone's caller ID on the phone, but no voicemail was left, I am highly unlikely to be motivated to call them back.

And I hate hate hate it when I leave someone a voicemail (with all the information they actually need), and they just call me back and go, "You called?" "I left you a message." "Oh, didn't listen to it. What's up?" Argh.

I also agree that not everyone texts or likes texting, and not everyone has an unlimited text plan on their phone. Not even everyone under 35 has an unlimited text plan. I only text people who've texted me first. (And I hate texting anyway.)

Leaving a voicemail is never rude, unless it's a rude voicemail. Even if it's just a friend with no concrete purpose for calling you, leaving a voicemail saying, "Hey, just wanted to catch up and hear your voice" is nice. How can that ever be rude?

Matching pugs!

Now that that's out of the way, love the home. Love all the color. Love the blend of cottage-y with mid-century modern. To me, it's well-balanced.

Love it! I have a small Saarinen table (36") that I don't even have room for with chairs around it in my current place, so I was just thinking about a banquette shoved in a corner. Because I need my Saarinen table in my life, not in my storage.

Overhand (aka waterfall).

But I won't absolutely freak out if it's underhand. (Well, maybe for a second or two.)

I live in Washington, so I have *always* had to pay sales tax on Amazon purchases. That said, I'm in favor of making Amazon collect sales tax in other states they operate in. The states need the revenue, and Amazon has more than large enough infrastructure to support collecting the taxes.

I buy lots of stuff online (not just from Amazon), and I *know* that I'm supposed to pay sales tax to my state on everything I buy, but of course I don't. No one does. Because there's no way of policing it. The taxes that Amazon will be collecting aren't *new* taxes that anyone is putting on you; they're just enforcing rules that are already in place.

I'm short and small, and all furniture made these days is way too huge for me. The only way I can find something comfortable is to get something vintage.

Definitely need a floor plan to figure this one out!

I love the bookshelves, though! Very nice.

I like the idea, and the look, but what happens if you spill even a very small amount of liquid on it?

I have actually been thinking about doing this for quite a while! I love that other people have shared their similar set-ups as well. It's very inspirational.

For my particular closet, it has one door and then it extends a little ways beyond the door frame into the corner, so my plan is to put a bench, hooks, boxes etc. in the doorway area and then put overflow coats in one of those canvas hanging bags and tuck it back into the corner. It would still be a little bit visible, but out of the way, and visually streamlined because the bag will contain the coats.

I have Cambria countertops and have been quite pleased with them. They're not as green as recycled-material countertops, but the company ethic is decently impressive.

That photo is great.

That's what I'd do if I had a house next to an insane Christmas decorator.

Love the look. Plus, crocheted afghans are usually so pretty and colorful, but rarely as soft as one would like them to be. The wall is really a better place for them than the couch.

I try not to post negative comments, but I too am surprised that these are the four that made it to the top. They're not bad, there were just so many that I thought were better...

I really do like the International winner, though.

Not exactly my cup of tea, but: as stated above, if this contest is really supposed to be about going full tilt boogie with color, then this room is a winner. Great job!
