Wasn't the first made for netflix series Lillyhammer? Not that it matters.

I love binge watching. I hear a lot of people talking about how it is self indulgent and that is ridiculous. I work long, long hours and seldom if ever get a opportunity to watch anything as it airs., Being able to sit down and watch a season of something while I clean my kitchen or just relax is great. Being able to go out on a weeknights to see friends and not worry about taping or missing something is great.

It works better than a long movie because it is still designed for chunked viewing. There tend to be discrete short term stories and mini arcs making it easy to get into and drop out of as you want. It also reveals really lazy and mediocre writing quickly.

@JMILB - the 360 is nice but it has some killer flaws. One is simply its lack of bluray, which for some people is a big minus. The other is all its streaming media services are only accessible through XBL Gold which while not expensive, is kind of a big FU to users. That said, rocking the new dashboard update, having an actual usable browser on my console is really awesome.

They no longer sell the white macbook, and the model they did sell until recently is a different design from the one pictured.

As mentioned, just use the longest string of pseudo random words you can. If not that, you something like keepass. The fact is almost noone is going to remember a large number of passwords of any real length without them either being human readable, or using a storage system. If you don't want to use something like keepass then having 15 or so words you use in random combinations with a good length will be very secure, and easy to read.

pr1n(3$$aT

is a much worse password than

unclebabytrucksitenumbtickle

despite only using alphas, because length trumps diversity.

You can do it yourself rather cheaply if you have a VCR. You just need a video in adapter, which for something like a VCR should be rather inexpensive. Warning though, it is slowww. This true with all analog recording. Going analog to digital takes forever because it is recorded 1 to 1.

I do this all the time. I love photographing the evolution of my workstation, because it is a very personal space for me. The thing is, when I show it off I always see some stray cable you never see in normal use or any other number of things that just RUINS the picture. "Oh god I never painted those patches from when I move the shelf. Oh my wire management thing I never finished" so I always end up photoshopping it and doing the actual work a month later.

This is worse for any DIY where you need functionality ASAP. I have so many small, half finished projects because I needed the thing I was building NOW and couldn't wait to completely do the surfacing.

I have mixed feelings.

On one hand, I like some of the overlap because I always felt like some of the sections had very relevant topical posts that were missed just because of a strong demographic division. For example, I have no children, and little interest in 80% of Odeedoh, but I read it because it had a ton of fun design and some great general small space stuff that did not need to be child specific. Those articles are now cross section, meaning more people get to see them.

The downside is, of course that with so much cross posting it makes it more frustrating to follow multiple sections, which is still sometimes useful. If you like kids, and tech, and DIY you might find some extreme overlap that can be frustrating.

To be honest it is simply a limitation of the modern blog format. Until sites start custom tailoring content based on viewer preference/statistics you end up with that dichotomy. I trust that Apartment therapist has enough viewer stats that they felt a merged format fit their general viewership better than the strongly departmentalized setup they had previously.

That is because this is like, 2005 Steve Jobs. No one wants a 2010 Steve, THAT would be creepy.

I switched back to windows a while ago for work, and it has been pleasant for the most part. There are, for sure, a lot of annoying aspects of it that make me go "how did you mess this up of all things!" but the day to day experience has been good, and for work I appreciate the flexibility in hardware.

This has been an ongoing problem, and not just with online retailers. One of the reasons a lot of local electronics shops here got shut down was they were marginally undercut by Best Buy.

People would still go to the smaller stores to get help, because the service was better, then after using the salespersons time they would go to best buy to purchase the item.

The funny thing is the savings wasn't that great. 30-50 dollars on a 1000 dollar isn't a big deal. Saving that 50 bucks over time killed the smaller retailers, and now people just bitch about how bad the service is at bestbuy.

Amazon is slowly doing the same thing. It will suck because while I am no fan of BestBuy I do like to actually see a product before a buy it, or in the case of clothing to try it on. Online shopping is great for some products, but the decline of small retailers for some products is sad. The thing is there isn't much you can do about it, and it isn't like people actively considered the outcome of their actions. They just wanted to save a few bucks.

I do have to say if you run in the dark PLEASE wear reflective gear or a light in darker areas. the MUP near my house is a major bike route and biking at night is horrifying because there is, without fail, someone in all black with headphones on jogging in the pitch black making them practically invisible until you are a few feet away from them unless you have 300 dollar bike lights. Stay visible, stay safe!

The biggest thing to watch out for with the harmonies is the device cap. In recent years logitech have been real dicks, and dramatically cut the device maximums. My current harmony, a harmony 550, could control up to 15 devices. The current model at the same tier caps out at FIVE. If this fits your usage then great, but for me I would need to spend at least 200 to have a harmony that could handle all my devices. It is a complete ripoff considering 4 years ago their cheapest remote could handle just as many devices as their most expensive one now.

@username26: Because it doesn't really say anything. I mean, it implies an aesthetic but as a critique it is very hollow. You have to go into more detail for it to be an actually effective.

It is a very classical form of interior work. The thing with Trompe L'oeil is it can look great or horrible and it really comes down to the room itself and the skill of the artist.

@Miami's Elaine: From what I understand the average new home size, though older homes would have been going up in size due to flippers performing foundation level tear downs and expansion/refinishing jobs. That said, the 70's was the end of an era of post war housing booms. There was a ton of small, cheap construction going on. I live in a neighborhood of houses that are mostly 1920-40's built homes, with no expansion, and they mostly sit in the 2000-2500 sqft range. I think what is more telling is density. I would be curious to know the average family unit size occupying new homes then and now.

I would use it if I could say, prepay for a year and get a rate like 15 a month, but I find the value dubious. I am lucky to see a movie a month. I used to see 4-5, but the cost just kept jumping, the matinee period got smaller, and it just got to be to much. I don't care about blockbusters, I am happy watching older movies and lower budget indie films. There just isn't a lot of value for me at that price point.

You do realize for the most part it is the act of friction during washing that cleans things, right? Water just helps pull particles and soap is just a surfactant used to make it easier. That little spot isn't going to magically hold billions of bacteria. People are seriously weird about cleaning.
