What a beautiful room! Do you remember where you got the gorgeous blue and green rug next to the crib?

Yo Gabba Gabba is certainly not for everybody. I love that it inspires kids to dance and sing along with the show. While many preschool television programs teach kids about music and talk about dancing and how much fun it is, Yo Gabba Gabba actually teaches dance moves. For that, I think it's great. Other parts of the show, however, are a little too fast for my personal taste.

As for the curtains, I might replace them with a more modern style shade in a natural wood or woven fiber in a tan close to the color of the rug. See Smith Noble for inspiration: http://www.smithandnoble.com

PB Teen has an ottoman that folds out into a twin bed:

And Ballard Designs has a similar version, in leather:

... as well as a square-armed stuffed chair that turns into a twin:

Although studies like this are nothing new, interactive shows, such as Blue’s Clues and Sesame Street, have had thousands of research studies over the years on their educational effectiveness. But when one study finds otherwise, it gets published in Time magazine!

Despite that, it scares me when kids under two years old watch a LOT of TV. When a one-year-old knows characters by name but can’t yet move away from the TV on his or her own … that’s not good.

While preschoolers are able to decide for themselves if they want to watch a particular program, babies, on the other hand, can’t.

With the growing number of programs — and even networks — out there catering specifically to preschoolers and babies, a lot of content can slip through the cracks.

Although all research studies should be taken with a grain of salt, it’s a good reminder for parents to analyze what (and at what age) their children are watching.

I think some of the best ways for book readers to go green is to buy them used, pass books along to friends, or go to the library. There are even sites that offer online books (such as the International Children's Digital Library), although I'm personally not a fan of people (especially children) spending so much time reading fine print in front of the screen.

As a homeowner in NYC, I can tell you this is a beautiful apartment and, believe it or not, the asking price is almost a steal in NYC. The price per square foot is about $805, whereas further downtown (and elsewhere) it's much closer to $1000!

Usually apartments that are priced like this, with such a high maintenance and low-ish asking price, are because the building has a land lease. I have NO idea if that's the case with this particular apartment (ask the broker or your lawyer), but what that means is the building doesn't own the land it sits on, and has to pay rent for it.
