These all look great, I the only one wondering where the, um, "intimate time" stuff goes? I need drawers.

She does a great job of making everything look curated, uncluttered and clean. My "curios" always make me look like I have a hoarding problem.

File under the category of "I wish I had known." My engagement ring and wedding band were stolen less than a year after I got married and I think about it literally every time I look at my hand, put on my new wedding band or see another woman's rings. We've never replaced the engagement ring. It's not that the rings were worth a ton of money and we can't afford it (they were well under the "average" $5,000) it's just that a replacement ring will never be a life priority. There's always something else that takes precedence. THAT'S the biggest benefit to insurance, you don't have to feel guilty about wanting to replace what you lost.

Visually, I prefer minimalism. Unfortunately, I can't seem to make clean lines and empty spaces work in the apartments I've lived in. Because they're not "fancy" or super modern buildings, "minimalist" just looks...empty. I feel like I need the architecture to highlight the few things I put out and since I don't have great architecture, it doesn't work. For some reason, it's easier for me to build a cozy space in my low-ish rent apartments.

I love the lamp with the gold sequins inside!

And for those that worry about loose glitter, I used to be in your camp. The trick is to mix glitter with Modge Podge or swipe a coat of Modge Podge over the top of the finished product, either way it seals the glitter in. I've glittered a purse, some vases and a headband and nary a wayward bit of glitter has been found. In fact, it's kind of hard to get it off! I tried to remove a bit of the dried glitter/ MP off the the interior of the purse and I had to get out a butter knife and scrape it.

Whenever I get my rugs steam cleaned (that's not a euphemism for anything!), I also have my mattresses done. I don't actually know if it deep cleans down to dustmiteville, but works pretty well.

I'm a writer, a book hoarder and a "rainbow order-er" and definitely NOT anti-book! I love my 500+ books, but when they're ordered by topic or author, the visual noise makes me batty.

I was prepared to be grossed out by photo number 8, which looks like a dirty bear skin rug in thumbnail form. I started laughing when I clicked on it and found a sleepy dog!

Gorgeous space and clean, beautiful choices in furnishings. Great job!

As a fellow Corgi owner, I feel your hair-covered pain. A minimum of twice a week Swiffering and vacuuming sessions are required, especially when you have dark espresso stained floors like we do. You could make a whole new dog with the amount of hair they shed! Oh, and we had the same Corona couch, which loves to hold on to dog hair. We recently replaced it with a leather couch, so we can wipe the fur off easily before we sit down. (I've left the house with fur-butt more times than I care to admit.)

I made a vegetarian version with shitake mushrooms. I served this to my carnivore parents and vegetarian husband and both loved it!

I love Crate and Barrel's organic turkish towels. They suck water off of me post shower and they're fluffy and un-scratchy.

I love it! You can actually buy her work on Etsy if you want approximate a little of that serenity in your own home. ( Shame that that little dog isn't for sale, too!

During the post-Christmas sale frenzy this past December, I found myself wandering the malls, "looking for good deals" and giving deep thought to questions like "should I get this black cashmere sweater with a tiny hole in it at a 70% discount? Or this black cashmere sweater with no hole in it at a 30% discount?" Never mind that I have 3 black cashmere sweaters at home already. To make a long story short, I realized what a habit shopping was and I was totally grossed out by my thoughtless consumerism. I recycle every last scrap of paper and plastic, but give no thought to all the impulse crap I buy on line or at sales etc. Lame.

So for the month of January, my bf and I pledged that we wouldn't buy anything except food and necessary toiletries (like the toothpaste tube has been cut open and every scrap used). And let me tell you, it's been HARD! The fact that I spent quite a bit of time being angry that I couldn't buy "stuff" made me realize what an addiction it really is. But I've made it one month and I'm so proud of myself for not buckling. And I've saved quite a chunk of money to boot! Though my pledge technically ends Saturday, I'm going to extend it through February as well. (Short month!)

One thing that helped get me through? I have the phrase, "I have everything I need" (thank you to Black.White.Yellow's Jessica for the inspiration!) as my screen saver, my computer wall paper, on my Blackberry screen, on a post-it note tacked to my ATM card...
