We were just having this same conversation in my family the other day. My brother in law said that our nephews have loved the gift cards he's given them in the past because it's like a pretend credit card, something grown ups have but not kids. Just like playing house or groceries, they get to play "racking up debt." Obviously there are issues here, but I was still put at ease by the fact that they will at least be excited to receive these gifts if it's the direction we decide to go.

I love the before picture! So simple and elegant. I would have just put a picture up over the bed and called it a day.

but what about sentimental things? I have a trunk full of stuff I can't bear to get rid of but hasn't been used in years. I always think, since I haven't looked at it in ages, it must be fine to get rid of it, but as soon as I open up that trunk I start running down memory lane and have second thoughts. I close the trunk and am happy knowing that stuff is there, safe and sound.

And yet....wouldn't that trunk be put to better use if it could store the pile of down comforters sitting on the guest room futon because they don't have a home of their own?

I think AT pushes ikea b/c when they push stuff we can't afford, we grumble about that. I guess they just like to give us stuff to complain about...or maybe they're trying to give us ideas.

I agree that the third hack is kind of boring but I am so in love with the second table I've had dreams about it...well, maybe not quite dreams, but definitely daydreams.

Not having a box spring might be perfectly comfortable, but it can invalidate the warranty. This is one reason I hate mattress companies. There are a lot of scams out there, even with the big name brands.

Just watched the Korean film "A Tale of Two Sisters" last night, which was riddled with incredible patterns and thick, rich colors. A gorgeous and fabulous movie.
