As others have noted, it's hard not to smile at the sight of a Maine Coon. I love Maine Coons so much that I had to instruct myself sternly to look elsewhere in the photos--and I still loved your place! Zemeer's Matte Black Bedroom My Bedroom Retreat Contest |

Exquisite. I hope you have blinds or curtains (unseen in Photo 1) for bedroom privacy. Otherwise, I'm swept away by this. Meera & Arjun's Life as Newlyweds House Call |

I want to thank you wiping out the memory of a Craftsman cottage that I saw last year, its interior painted white everywhere I looked. This respects what the house is meant to be, and lets it grow back into itself. There's love and warmth everywhere. I don't know why, but the word that keeps coming to mind is "burnished" -- it's been done with such simplicity and sheen. And the fireplace! It's a HOME, in the richest, most beautiful sense. Granted, playing games with your cat is always the best solution. But you can still give them animal company from a screen. One of my two late cats loved to try to catch the cursor on my laptop monitor. (I think she thought it was an insect. At any rate, she kept her claws in, so there were no scratches.) Eventually, "cursor play" would start to bore me (the cat was always fascinated), so after five minutes, I got down on the floor to play her favorite game (soccer with a ball of crumpled paper)--a win-win situation. I don't like it either, hydrozoan. It's a matter of taste, I suppose, but I find it sterile, and the teak island is impractical. Also, as others have pointed out, it looks like the footage has been increased by moving a wall--something that should be mentioned, if true. It's also not a fair comparison to photograph "before" with the space full of the usual domestic items, and the "after" with none at all. Bravo for showing the silents to your niece. I'd suggest showing her a Mary Pickford, as MP on screen was a strong leader, sympathetic, virtuous, funny -- an ideal image for growing girls. And she played some great roles adapted from famous children's books. I took my two nieces (both age six) to see Pickford in "The Poor Little Rich Girl" (1917) and they loved it. I'd recommend her "A Little Princess" (1917) too. My Favorite Films for Children Maxwell's Finds |

First, I'm a devotee of silent movies as well as L.A.'s 20s and 30s architecture (most of it long gone!) Second, I adore this--and not just because I love these things. Jennifer, your feel for color, space and proportion is perfect, and so each room can "support" the objects in it. The place is so sumptuous, light, happy, and the way it mixes "over the top" with something more rustic is really stunning. Perfect all round, in my opinion. ... and I couldn't care less what you wear in a photo shoot. Jennifer's Touch of Hollywood Glamour House Tour |

Fun, sensational, happy. In fact, I've never said anything "rocked" before, but I agree with Edmundd--this totally rocks. I also hate the word "amazing"--but here I go, the place is amazing. My favorite slide, I think, is the Asian statue beside the graffitti-ed, Louis chair. And I'm stunned by the bedroom (the hanging lamp above the hot-pink bed ...).
