I think it would be easier to say, "what's not cooking" for me! Hahaha. I plan to make a pork shoulder with Stonewall Kitchen's Pulled Pork Simmering Sauce (I purchased this last week while visiting York, Maine. *swoon*) for sandwiches and meals during the week. For lunches, a slow cooker chili, or perhaps slow simmered on the stovetop. For the big game: Detroit Honey Hot Wings from Allrecipes, a loaded bacon cheeseburger dip, deviled eggs, and rolo cake mix bars. I also need to make sandwich bread and a cinnamon swirl bread.

The folks from Baked in Brooklyn had a recipe in their first cookbook that is an absolute STAPLE in my house. It was for Banana Espresso Chocolate Chip Muffins. A former boss of mine called them "rocket fuel."

Malted blueberry waffles in my new waffle iron (my old one bit the dust a few weeks ago), taco dip for the playoffs tonight, some hard boiled eggs for the week ahead, and maybe some sour cream pancakes with maple pecan butter from an article I read in Country Living magazine. I plan to make a slow braised brisket tomorrow for supper-and we'll have enough for leftovers for the majority of the week. And maybe some cheese biscuits from the cookbook "At my Grandmother's Knee" to have with country ham for a treat during the week. I've also been contemplating making the peanut butter fudge cookies posted on the The Kitchn's website last year. I'm really hungry...perhaps I should go make myself some breakfast.......

For two years now, I've received the Linnea poster calendar. It hangs above my bar area. I simply adore the different posters for each month.

Making my annual holiday treats, fudge and caramels.

We live 750 miles or so from my family and 800 miles away from my husband's family. We've called every special day and holiday and my husband's family just can't be bothered to return the favor or even travel to see us. My family won't travel to see us unless they take minimal time off and once we paid for the airfare. My sister sent me an email and in one sentence, gave me the guilt trip for not coming and how she hoped we would next Christmas. I only get two weeks of vacation a year and while I do truly love both sides of my family, I just can't celebrate the holidays with them.

Oh, and my favorite snack are saltines, topped with a small square of Kraft single, topped with three mini marshmallows, then broiled until golden brown. YUM!

Mine was a Disney Cookbook. In it was a recipe for a Cinderella Sundae. Which was a glazed doughnut, a scoop of ice cream, and chocolate sauce.
