I use an electric kettle for both tea and coffee too, but I skip the teapot and just use the french press for tea too.

I use mine all the time - for tea, for coffee, etc. - but also end up using it for household cleaning things too, like pouring hot water down the drain to help clear it out. The safety aspect (of automatically getting turned off) is also nice for those of us who are younger but can get distracted by our kids!

My baby shower featured mini, "baby"-sized food! We had mini corndogs, a couple cornish hens, baby carrots, and mini-cupcakes.

I really like susanfilm's suggestion of yoga mats. I don't do a whole lot of standing, but I do have a toddler who can get into the cabinets and thinks nothing of dropping cans on the new bamboo floor, so I have been wanting something that covers more of the floor.

I've used my Bodum French press to make cold brewed coffee, so in that case, I didn't even use the energy to heat the water.

I also have a basket of dishcloths that I use once then toss in the laundry. But I still use a sponge, and I microwave it. I just make sure it's quite wet and only have it in for 2 minutes.

I live in zone 5, and the compost pile does end up freezing sometime mid-winter. It makes it harder to dig into to add more compost to it, and things don't compost but stay frozen a while, but come spring, everything speeds back up without any ill effects.
