So funny to read this blog today. I was JUST talking about this show with a co-worker yesterday about it. We were reminiscing about some of the crazy designs and how much fun it was to watch that show. My husband and I now own a custom upholstery/furniture store in Napa. I can't imagine how they did what they did in 2 days. Crazy!

I agree with Dave. Where DID the stairs go? And what about the outside wall moving? I don't think this is a real "before and after" picture. It's more like an inspiration photo. (I checked the photo gallery, too.) I do like the black and white kitchen though!

That salad looks so fresh and tasty. I'm totally craving a fresh salad after all the winter-type, down home food I've been eating. This looks awesome!

Congrats Lanz, Michael and Brent!

The house looks amazing in the pics. And is even more amazing in person. The architecture with the high ceilings and all the moldings and detail work - plus your design style with all the furnishings and artwork makes it a fantastic home. I wish I had 12' ceilings!

Thanks for sharing the pics with everyone. Nice job!

(I was fortunate to attend an art party there last weekend. Lucky me! It's even more amazing in person.)

I snap most of the time. I have peeled them too, but I usually snap or chop off the end. You do lose a little bit of the asparagus. But, oh well!

I'm not a fan of the Clean Plate Club (definitely lived through it growing up.)

However, with an eight year old daughter who can barely sit still through a meal, I have asked her to PLEASE eat her dinner - that she can't come running to me in 15 minutes saying she's hungry.

Our house rule is you have to try everything. You don't have to finish it if you don't like it, but you have to try it.

Remarkably, many of her friends now eat foods they thought they didn't like after trying it at our house. (salad, fresh garlic, home-made meatballs, scrambled eggs, homemade muffins and breads, the list goes on and on.)

One of the first things I did in our townhouse was replace the kitchen faucet with a $100 faucet/sprayer combo. It was the best $100 I've ever spent. I would do it again in a second. The second thing I did was buy $30 work of matching knobs from Home Depot for all the kitchen cabinets - so they all match. Would do that again, too.

I still don't like my kitchen, the cabinets and counters are ugly. The stove/oven is the cheapest thing out there and the fridge - don't get me started.

But I feel much better when I cook and fill a large pot with my fabulous faucet. And it's so much prettier to look at the cabinets now with their pretty new knobs.

We've been here two years. I've definitely gotten my money's worth.
