Oops: I meant "Northern" armchair, of course.

Your orange armchair: I've got the same one, in turquoise velvet! What fabric is yours? And has it been re-upholstered? Thanks for those precious infos.
By the way, I'm in Montreal... this must be a "Northern" sofa"! :-)

Oh yes, that is indeed beautiful: it's a splendid mid-century modern showroom. Regrettably, the key word here is "showroom".

This kid looks lost and lonely in this cold museum of a house.

Leave them be! They're fabulous! Integrate them to your decor by way of color or style. The fabric is wonderful and these are by no means funky or weird colors. Please please spare these poor creatures.

Sometimes you have to make do with what you can afford. You obviously did well with that small space.

But for having done the same when I was younger, I can assure you that it can not be a long-time solution. There comes a time where you need a place with at least ONE room where the wall is not 5 feet from your face.

In two different places where I lived, burglars entered the house even though they very well knew we were inside, because our doors were not locked. This is extremely terrifying.

So now it's locked doors at all times in the city; at our summer cottage though, only at night or when we leave, since we're in and out of the house 200 times a day.

@ lychee

Sure looks like it was taken just down the road from my country house last year, at the beginning of January :-)

Has anyone seen "Corrina Corrina", with Whoopie Goldberg and Ray Liotta?

It's got the most accurate and gorgeous mid-century decor, bungalows, offices... Cute film and great acting, too!

Your whole house has that "north of France" european feel... You have exquisite taste. And I'm sure it smells good in there too! Love the hamster painting, and the cupboard doors, and the "paniers" everywhere...
The view is also part of the house, and it is heavenly. Bravo!!

Hated it beacuse of our long and freezing winters here in Quebec. Only reason, though.

doubledutch, I understand what you are saying!!

Our amateur-built country cottage is a wild child that has NO straight anything. The floors, walls, ceilings, doors, bath, joints are ALL out of plumb (if you ever read "Asterix and Cleopatra", think of architect Numerobis's houses).

If you heat the little black stove in the living-room, you have to leave the room.

If you cook anything that fumes, all the smoke gets mysteriously trapped in the bedroom located ...at the other end of the house.

This house is a joke for at least a hundred reasons, that's why we love it so much.

Samantha's house in Bewitched. She had a Papa Bear chair!!!! And kitchen appliances from heaven.

And though I hate colonial style, I loved the ambiance at the Stratford Inn, in Newhart.

It can be great, but not on ALL surfaces. (floors walls ceilings=blah!) One is enough.

By the way, a few years ago, I saw an ad on a real estate agent website, precising that the basement walls were finished with "naughty pine".

Frisky little basement!

This is wise advice, and easy to put to work!

At the office, there are 3 parties in the same week, and everybody's already worn out, with the end-of-the-year last call hysterics.

I still had a few vacation days left so I decided to take that week off. This will allow me to ease into Christmas, shop slowly for favors, bake some goodies, and above all do some handmade stuff for family and friends -- I'm a graphic designer, and they love my little personalized surprises.

I did that a few years ago and it was one of the most agreeable of my grown-up Noëls.

The "butterflies" wallpaper motif reminds me of the one in the dead girl's room in "Silence Of The Lambs". Huffff.

House is great and info too, though! Thanks.
