The movers charged by the hour, with a four hour minimum, which shouldn't have been a problem, since I only had a studio apartment. Four hours woudl have been plenty.

They packed the elevator so full at my new place that the elevator borke. Of course they charged for the time the elevetor wasn't working. I finally ended up telling them to leave, waiting for the elevator repair person, and unloading the elevator myself.

That's pretty much what my LR looks like right now (plus one cat). I'm in the midst or the Cure, a job change and finals!

I'd love to see the "after" pics. Both in your place and in mine.

patrick (the other one)-

What a great idea to replace the bulbs with frosted ones. I have the same lighting situation in my bathroom, and I bet it would make a world of difference. I'm going to try it.

Wow! Great before and after. I'm inspired.
This weekend I scrubbed the entry way floor and took care of some of my inbox items. The rest are in the middle of the living room floor. I'll have to get to those this week.

Muscles (my bf) will be coming over this week to help me move stuff to the "loft storage" that I have.

This weekend I had a great filing cabinet purge. It began as a "where to put my incoming mail" problem. It ended with half of my files purged!

Still no camera, though. Just take me on my word that there is organization emerging from the chaos.

On a related note, I'm trying to locate a spork for my boyfriend for everyday use. He has one that's titanium, and it's too light for his liking.

Anyone have any ideas?

My outbox is currently in the entryway- my plan for the weekend is to clean it out as much as possible (by donating items, returning hangers to the drycleaners, mailing packages, etc... ) The remaining contents will be added to the growing pile in the middle of my livingroom, which will be a great photo once I get my camera back.

I'm going to figure out if my coatrack will work in my entry space - and if not, I'll need to tackle the selling/donation of my unused bike and golf clubs that reside in the coat closet (which I should do anyway, since I consider that part of my entryway) so I can put coats in the closet.

I'm going to make it a habit to leave my cellphone and charger on the landing strip, so I don't forget them when I go out. I forgot it once this week.

"Locally it's very difficult to give food to food pantries."

I'm in the same situation. I have a bag of canned food sitting in my outbox. I plan to make a conscious effort to use some of those items when I plan meals this week. I think tonight I'll have come canned corn. Does anyone have recipe ideas that use canned corn?

I also had a plethora of kitty treats when I cleaned my pantry. It only took me about three minutes to find a place locally to donate those. (I kept some, but my kitters are on a weight loss plan, so out with the excess...)

I spent some time cleaning and decluttering in the kitchen. My kitchen is starting to look good! I was able to fit all my cookbooks on the top shelf of my pantry, and my spices are all away from heat sources!

I've also added a lot of items to the outbox. I actully got rid of one item, too. My boyfriend was visiting and noticed one of his socks in my outbox- he had been missing it!

This is problem I have also - although, I am lucky in that my two cats use a covered litter box. I moved it to the bathroom last week, and it seems to be working out for the three of us.

The bathroom was my last solution - the box was in the entryway, which was as far away from their food as possible.

I hate "litterbox furniture." A couple solutions I considered were:

- a full size room screen, but cut down to half size - I didn't want my loft overwhelmed by a screen

- putting the box against one wall, and creating another "wall" with a short console table (with drawers) or a short dresser from IKEA

good luck.

I've been sick lately, and haven't had much of an appetite - until I read this! This will be easter dinner - minus the meat, probably- I was originally planning on having lamb for easter dinner, but I'm not sure my stomach could handle it.

I liked the Tempurpedic when I slept on it, but I think regular mattresses are fine. My robust ex said it did wonders for his back.

Kahlua peaches. Yum. I'm likely going to have lamb, couscous and asparagus on Easter, but I think I could easily work the peaches into the menu.

Tonight I'm making the dill chicken salad recipe I found on this site.

I'll probably do the corned-beef and cabbage thing on Sunday, instead of Monday. I plan to roast some rootveggies with it too, if I can find some parsnips.

I made this last night - this recipe is definitely going in the rotation.

The only thing I didn't have on hand were anchovies - I guess my pantry is in better shape than I thought. I bought a tube of anchovy paste- what a great invention!
