I'm confused by this. I thought toddler beds use crib mattresses. Is there such a thing as a toddler bed mattress that is longer than a crib mattress?

Great ideas! Earlier this evening, I told my daughter about this idea and she said, "Oh! Can we go to that party?"

This is adorable! I love the fabrics.

kristertrixter - I think we see 2 dressers from the Robin series (we used to have 1) but I believe the line has been discontinued. Too bad if so - it was a great, sturdy dresser.

We went from crib to mattress and box springs on the floor. Our daughter is a heavy sleeper and rarely moves in the night, so she adjusted quickly and we added the bedframe. I've never understood the appeal of a toddler bed, aside from having a smaller footprint within a room. Even more than a crib (which we received as a gift and used for 3 years), it seems like a waste of money.

We had a Snap & Go and loved it while it lasted, which was only 3 months since our daughter was huge and moved from the infant carrier seat to a regular car seat.

For awhile when we walked around the neighborhood, we used the huge Graco stroller that came with the car seat's travel system (bought at a deep discount). After about 2 years, we splurged (for us) on a Dreamer Design jogger and the difference was incredible - so smooth and easy to turn. It has held up well over the past 2.5 years and use on older, bumpy sidewalks.

The McClaren Triumph was our main stroller for smoother surfaces (museum, store, zoo, etc.). We loved it for all the reasons others have stated previously but I cannot imagine using it as a primary neighborhood stroller. The bumpy sidewalks would, I imagine, be too much for it to handle.

I make my own detergent using this recipe:

I cannot speak to the "safety" of it for babies, however. I only recently made the switch to it but my 4-year old has never had a problem with it.

I agree with those who've suggested skipping the toddler bed. My daughter transitioned from crib to a double bed with no problem. We started with the mattress on the floor, then moved to box spring/mattress and finally to the set with the bedframe. I wonder about the appeal of the toddler bed. I assume for many that it is an issue of space. There must be reasons to use one because they are very popular. That being said, I think the bed pictured here is adorable.

pennycarnival - one of my daughter's preschool classmates gave each child a big ball, likely from the dollar store, instead of cookies or candy.

We get My Big Backyard and Turtle (both gifts) and my daughter loves both of them. We used to get Preschool Playroom (again, a gift) and it was just ok. As another poster said, lots of ads for character toys that we'd rather not buy. My good friend gets Nick Jr. and passes it along to us. Similar to Preschool Playroom. We love Ladybug and borrow it from the local library, but I agree with Warren that a $35 subscription is a bit much.

This is perfect if you want to skip the potty chair and just go to the real toilet. We found it at BRU.

"but i feel to be blindly led along by medical professionals without ever doing research on your own as to the benefits of a drug-free labor where you have the freedom to move around & the knowledge of a midwife and or doula to assist you...it's just unfortunate."

I had a planned c-section for various medical reasons. I certainly would have preferred to have a vaginal birth but it just didn't happen. I made the choice based on the opinions of 2 doctors. I was not "uneducated" as some have said/implied. I had done extensive reading, took childbirth classes (facilitated by a doula) and consulted with medical professionals.

I find it "unfortunate" that you are so incredibly smug and sure that your experience was the only "right" way. Actually, I am sort of sad for you.

This is similar to what we have on our deck. We don't have the wheels, however. I cannot say that I miss them.

I get a chuckle at the strong opinions on this site, especially those regarding handwriting. So much of school is spent waiting around and doing nothing. I would much rather my daughter spend her time learning something useful than practicing for hours to master a skill that our modern society renders obsolete.

We had a similar experience, JudiAU. Our daughter was a snuggler and rarely slept in the mini - she quickly ended up sleeping with us in the bed. I second your advice regarding sleeping flexibility.

But I also agree with moiety that there is definitely a market for those who can sew sheets to fit the mini or regular sleeper!

My daughter loved the exersaucer and refused to go near the doorway jumper after trying it once. Do you know anyone who has one that you could try before you buy?

The best toys are those that my daughter actually plays with, regardless of what they look like. End of story. For me, at least.

My DIY version is similar to the one pictured. I used an under-the-bed storage box and placed it on one of our deck's built-in benches. I highly recommend it, as the total cost was about $15 for the storage box, play sand and toys - it has been perfect for my 4-year old.

$57?? I found something similar at BRU for about $10. It's been perfect.
