I love it. I'm religious, but not christian, so for me, the church is just a space used for religion - the space isn't the important thing, it's the reverence placed on it.

I would do different furnishings, personally.

I like these a lot - I've been planning on lightening up my bedding for the summer months. The winter stuff we have is blue and champagne, and I just love an all white bed. Thanks for featuring these!

We're redesigning our office here at work, and I've put forth this kind of idea, a greige overall paint color, and then allowing each team member to have a bright pop of color on one wall in their office - if we were going with these combos in that sort of idea, I love the coffee and indigo.

I'm not going to subscribe to anything, because I find that I just end up saving the old issues and never returing to them. The only $$ i'm going to spend on print mags any more will be on artforum, and that's about it. I'm perfectly fine iwth going to the barnes and noble and reading mags there, it gets me out of the house, and maybe I'll spend more time at home reading books.

That said, I will miss Domino.

I used to be a light and bright person, but my last bedroom was painted "loft" a grey from ralph lauren...and I loved it. We're going to paint the new bedroom the same color, and add one wall in an even darker grey shade behind the bed...all in a north facing room. We don't close our blinds though, living up high, so we get all the northern light we need streaming in. Soon it will actually be bright when I wake up too....

THese look kind of nice. THe thing I always hated about the stacking hangers is that they held the hangers too close together, squishing the collars, messing the details on necklines....I might have to try these....

Seriously, who p*ssed in everyone's cheerioes this morning? The First-Family-To-Be did say they were going to get a dog from a shelter. I think that's a fantastic idea. Think about it this way - two young girls who are probably used to running out to play with friends whenever they want are now going to have an incredibly restricted life, with media attention when they go out, and constant presence of 'handlsers' when they are in the white house - I would think that the dog will be a great transitional item for them - something they can take comfort from, and be with when their dad is suddenly gone all. the. time. to places like Iraq, China, etc.

It's not going to be easy, so why not think of it as a sweet gesture that is humanizing a family that is pretty much going to be living in a fishbowl for the next 4-8 years.

I also need to know that paint color. We just moved, and the bedroom is too neutral. I wanted to paint it dark, but it's pretty dark anyway (north facing window onto a sheltered balcony) - It's a big room, but needs something to draw it in without being too dark. PLEASE share the color if anyone knows it! :)

My art above my bed is a 4'x5' white canvas that I gessoed and then didn't do anything with it. It's kind of cool, but people usually think it's a projection screen at first....

I would also love to see:

1. More Floor Plans
2. Rental Designs (I live in a lovely rented semi-urban dwelling, but it's less than a year old, and I have no ability to make any changes other than paint)
3. Attention to detail (especially with regard to spelling, grammar and links that work)
4. Cost consciousness - both the price point, and the effect on society, the environment, etc.
5. Some love for the flyover states. I'm at least 15 hours from any AT city, and lacking both a Trader Joes, Ikea, and my local craigslist features a LOT of Aspen Log furniture and "southwestern" designs on couches.
6. Low Cost Entertaining at Home options/ideas.
7. I too dislike the "hot or not" posts.

And a personal nitpick, I'd love to see tagging that's easier to get through - I had at least three things I was looking for this past week that I *know* I've seen on Apartment Therapy, but couldn't find. I'm not going to recall whether something was a "hot post" - but I will know that I am looking for a media cabinet that was a hack from an Ikea lack shelving unit with perforated screens on the doors. (Ikea, Hacks, Media Units).

Not to say that these are deal breakers, but as smeone who has read AT for at least 2 years, they are just opinions that I've formed. In general I like the site, and my boyfriend has even said that maybe he'll look through the site to show me what designs *he* likes.

Oh, and one last thing - no more sex chairs. That was just....weird.

Oh, by the way....is there supposed to be an active link for the 'january jumpstart' project details? It says "read details here" but I don't see details.

:)

My grandparents had one of those cabinet stereos. I want one *so bad* for my 1961 brick ranch.

My "just do it' project for January is to get something done in the house. I will have turned in my thesis proposal by deadline, i have a new job which includes a raise, and I figure I should put some of that money to work celebrating the new job/proposal completion by finishing one of my house projects. Any of them really. Maybe it will be painting the bathroom trim (I painted the bathroom walls in September.)

When my husband and I first started dating, I mentioned to him how much I loved flowers, though I'd never gotten a bouquet from anyone ever. He told me that he would never buy a girl a bouquet because every time he did, they'd broken up a short while later. We got married in 2003, and he still never bought me flowers....and I was ok with that.

Fast forward to 2004:::

I was preparing for my thesis show and defense, had family members staying in my one bedroom apartment, was interviewing for a new job, and studying for my last finals before graduating. My defense ran WAY longer than scheduled, but I passed. I came home to a (miraculously) empty apartment with a bouquet of asiatic lilies on the table and the following note:

Roses are red

Violets are blue

But that doesn't matter, because these are freaking lilies!

And I'm proud of you

He did it. He bought me flowers.

And we're still married. :)

I reallly really REALLLLY love the Bantam. I want that sofa so badly, and in that color even. I have an almost fetishistic obsession with it, it reminds me of my grandparents' couch (but way better) from the 60s/70s.

Thanks for sharing this. I'm determined to put even a cheapo floor in my bedroom and guestroom this winter....though what I'd *really* like to do is do something like this through the whole house (1000 sq ft) just because I know any additional work on our house is still a year away and I am SO SICK of my floors. I want new floors and a new couch. SERIOUSLY.
