(for no special reason) not having ever discussed this issue with anyone, I find it funny to realise that more people have the "going out to eat or getting take out 2-3 times each to remind myself that my cooking is way better, cheaper and healthier..."-method :)
go for it, Sadie!

I guess it's stronger than them, something like being upset at others because don't go under their style&RULES

:) I also end up in conversation with people while shopping. Sometimes they start, other times I start, mostly about cooking, or sometimes just a smile about someone grouchy in the same aisle :P
A sad (SAD) thing here in Portugal is that sometimes you still have adults (mostly old people) who can't read and they come to you to help them with a label or comparing products/prices
On the other hand, a nice thing here is that you may still smile/talk to kids that their parents won’t look at you as a possible immoral person
I like to go shopping with my hub, we go to local market some weekends and a supermarket nearby my house where everyone there is quite nice (clients & employees), it’s clean and has fresh and also different products (like maple syrup, you don’t find it everywhere here), and if they don’t have and you ask you may be sure that they will look for it and call you

About the reusable produce bags, I’ve never seen people using them here, mostly what we do is if you only take 1red pepper (for ex) you don’t put it in a bag.
I just tried to buy those online, initial price $4.99 in the end would be $12.58 so it seems like someone’s having a nice sewing weekend one of these days…

This said, I’d like to thank cmcinnyc for the laughs and tell MaryWynn that saying “I'm not that cute” was VERY CUTE

p.s. @Emma, a few weeks ago you were nice to answer my question at the “Banana Bread Scones" post but in the end I wasn’t able to try (and still didn’t), that’s why I didn’t answer

Wise Amanda Mac!

If the runnig water is not enough, look for a pro (nurse or doctor). "I heard about" followed by "I use/tried it" when we are talking about possible 'open doors' seems much like self-medicating atitude.
Anyway, I hope that the worst that may happen will only be a bad blister and that goes away too.

Customs of Another Country: Fully Furnished Apartments

in Portugal it's more common to rent unfurnished, stove & fridge (& sometimes washing mashines) are there in (let's say) half of the cases, in others you even have to get the water heating equipment, the "rest" of the kitchen is all there. Furnished places are most common for students and tourism.
Usually, landlords rent from 1 to 3 years (with possibility of new contracts), and many people live in the same rented apartment for years.
I lived in one for 4 1/2 years.

p.s. Portuguese go both ways with their eggs :P Personally, I don't like to put them in the fridge

p.s. and the "composting food scraps is second nature in Berlin thanks to the city's weekly compost collection, which is used for nearby agriculture." is just a wonder, I wish...
