How timely, Slate just reviewed of several home composters. I thought of this post after reading the review of the "green cone" system composter which "produces no harvestable dirt, just water and carbon dioxide." If you just want to find a way to dispose of organic waste with minimal effort and without trucking soil all across town, this might work for you. I do believe that it requires some yard space and drainage though. Like to article is here: http://www.slate.com/id/2219597/pagenum/all/#p2

Unlike a bathroom, I like to see a kitchen with a little evidence of usage. If anyone had to actually cook in this kitchen they would spend half the time tearing apart all the cabinets looking for items.

Otherwise the concept is lovely and makes perfect sense.

Those are cute and it is absolutely *NOT* a faux pas to deviate from a gift registry. But anyway, I'm old-fashioned and cranky and I think that gift registries are tacky.

[Windows key] L locks the keyboard (assuming you're running Windows here). This still works for my toddler, although soon I'm expecting him to catch on.

That article is lame and superficial. It doesn't matter where you live, make the best of it. I enjoy living in an urban setting and I think it has a ton of benefits for my child, hence I'm raising my child here. It has its challenges but so does everything. Sometimes people think about things too much.

I hate the attitude that the city is some sort of Disneyland that's only for the post-collegiate set.

Oh and SF public schools aren't mediocre or bad. Come on people!
