I'd love to know where you got the big mirrors for your dining space. Are they custom fit or off the shelf?

We live in St. Louis and get some of the worst summers (and winters) in the country. Regardless, we keep our AC at 78 all summer whether it's 85 or 105. If it's below 80, we usually just open the windows. I think a lot of these suggestions apply wherever you are in the country, except maybe getting rid of Netflix. That's $8 I'm happy to part with.

Happy birthday Apartment Therapy! I only discovered the site about six months ago (that's what happens when you live with your parents until age 25) and now I'm hooked. After three attempts at painting our living room, I finally got it right thanks to the advice of sites like AT. At last, our house is finally starting to feel like home. Thank you!

This has to be my favorite house tour on AP so far. I love everything! As a mum with a young family, I appreciate how lived in and REAL this home is. I'm definitely going to steal a few ideas for our home from this one, especially the headboard in the little girl's room.

Love it. I wish I could have had my own space like this before the husband and kids came along. Where is the dining table from? I'm looking for an affordable rectangle table like this.

We have only one bathroom in our 1,089-square-foot house. With two adults and two children, it's a bit cramped. Plus, I'm always rushing around trying to clean random bits of toothpaste that mysteriously end up EVERYWHERE and tidy up bath toys every time someone comes over. I'd kill for a designated guest bathroom. Sadly, we couldn't find any two-bath houses in our price range.

I'd love to see more photos. Our house has a similar layout to the living room, and I'd be interested to see where she's put the TV. Such a cute house! This is the kind of tour I'd love to see more of. I get so many ideas!

We have the exact same problem. We've got wall-to-wall beige carpet, a hand-me-down beige sofa and greige walls. I, too, thought the carpet would wear well, but with two active little kids and a husband who always forgets to take his shoes off, it's looking pretty bad. Our house is crying out for color and/or contrast. I'd love to install rich, dark hardwood floors but that's not happening anytime soon. I'm currently looking for a big, colorful area rug to put over the carpet. And, I noticed some friends of ours have done exactly the same thing. I say, do whatever you have to do to cover the bad and show off the good!

Bowrinfeld - Don't worry about it. This is my very first Cure, and I'm waaay behind. I haven't even looked in my bathroom closet yet. However, the main thing on my list was to get the clutter cleaned up and the papers filed. Seriously, we haven't filed in 14 months! Now THAT'S bad. There was no way I could get that mammoth task done in a day or two. I'm giving myself until the end of January to get it all sorted. Prioritize your biggest problem areas, concentrate on those and forget the rest. Good luck!

My mom always took ours down on Jan. 1, which I think makes sense. Taking it down before New Year's Eve just seems wrong somehow. It's still the holiday period, so why not make the most of that lovely, sparkly tree while the kids are still off school? Also, we get a live tree and usually don't put it up until Dec. 15 so taking it down right after Christmas seems like a waste. My brother-in-law and his wife are adamant about leaving theirs up until Jan. 7 in honor of advent. I like that idea, but by then the needles are starting to drive me mad. :)

Great job! And I completely agree with you about the cleaning miracle that is vinegar. I've been using it for everything and LOVE it.

Also, just wanted to add how envious I am of all that Waitrose food in your fridge. I worked at John Lewis for a few years when we lived in the U.K. and made full use of my Waitrose discount. I definitely shed a few tears over that when we moved across the pond to America.
