i have an Uncommon case for my phone and i love it. it looks amazing and it is super durable. dings and scratches don't show or ruin the image.

they should have other (not just iphone) cases, too. i think they are going to do computer cases at some point, also, which would be really cool.

Nancy- Thank you for posting the back story to how Ristretto ended up with the chairs! That's a great story (I can't believe PSU was throwing those away!). Plus, I had no idea your husband owned Ristretto (I'm quite familiar with your writing!). Small city/town!

Thanks for all the info, folks. I'm going to try to track down some originals. I'll keep you posted on how it turns out.

If it doesn't end up working out for you, I'd gladly buy that gorgeous table (no kids!). I'm in the market for JUST that table... ;-)

i can think of three things that would help considerably...

1. what about getting a runner/rug for the stairs? that way, at least, you put money into something that you could, theoretically, take with you when you leave (then, repurpose it for something else if you don't have more stairs that need the runner).

2. get a cute door mat to replace the one you have there (not offensive, but nondescript).

3. also, i second the vote for painting... paint the walls and railing.

How would I get my hands on that Duralee chair (on their site called Lyon)??

They only sell to interior designers and nothing came up with a Google search...

I have a skateboard deck as art on my wall. I use heavy-duty fishing line to hang it on a picture wall hook. It looks fantastic and is sturdy/safe.

OMG! amy... you are sooo right. i'm surprised that as a native northern californian i didn't think of that problem with the design, too!

it looks cool...

but too bad it will ruin the wine (unless they drink through it all really fast). wine is supposed to be stored in a cool, dark place. being out in a wine rack is just about the worst thing you can do to a bottle of wine...

Yup. Sadly, the best solution here, I think, is to paint again. Try a shade like the ones suggested that, next to a dingy white tile will make it look like "cream" rather than dingy white.

I'd vote for a fresh green like suggested.

yeah, it's cool that they could do this... but i just don't get it. seems more like art than furniture that anyone would ever actually use.

as an art installation it could be cool/ interesting commentary on the fleetingness of home for our society these days.

as furniture... hmmmm...

i think a mirror would be a great way to go, leaned against the floor. would really open the place up, too, and not lend to a heavy feeling, since you have more curtains/drapes on the other wall.

be sure to post "after" pics!

noooo!! don't paint it!

i agree with others... please don't paint this fan. how can this gorgeous turquoise blue not go with sage green?!?!

you ruin the vintage value if you paint it. such a shame. plus, the color as-is is beautiful and perfect.

otherwise, just get a chrome polish, take it apart with a screwdriver, and polish this baby up. that's ALL it needs. great find!
