not bad. first, get rid of that fluorescent lighting.
next step- say goodbye to the wallpaper, and redo the backsplash tile. (remove that panelling and continue it to that wall)

i think that should do it. good luck!

I don't like it. That is the bottom line. The furniture choices are a bit too 'different', especially that red leather couch, not crazy about it. It's just everything looks a bit too much like garage sale meets ikea.

However, I do like your master bedroom's enclosed seating area, and your bookcase sliding doors.

That's astonishing. I love to see all the ikea furniture! It just shows you that great style doesn't have to be expensive.
I LOVE it!

Hey,
This apartment looks awesome! It's got a very cool vibe, that I personally love.
I actually don't hate the red. I can see why you might not be crazy about it but I think you can make it work. Just stay away from red decor if you don't want the red on the walls to be so noticeable. A suggestion I would have is a very very light blue color, almost creme in fact for different accents in the dining room. I know that red and blue seem too patriotic, but the combination actually looks really good. Then you can work that color into the living room and go into other shades of blue. Chocolate brown furniture in the living room might look nice, maybe even in the dining room. White might work as well, depends on the style.

Good Luck!
ps. I love the floors!

Hey Denise,
A few suggestions to make the space more modern, but still keeping it's rustic look.
Try unique light sources (i.e lanterns, christmas lights, candles, chandeliers). Avoid using those fluorescents.
Decorate with lighter colors. When you chose your color, consider what colors compliment the theme color, so it doesn't get too boring. Maybe try mixing and matching dark and light colors, but keep the majority of decor a light tone and maybe accent a few things in a darker color.
Good Luck!
