Oh, what a serendipitous post! I just bid and won an ebay listing for an Olivetti Underwood typewriter. And as it was an impulse bidding, I was feeling some regret that I won the item. But now I feel like it was meant to be!

I made a batch of Martha Stewart's chicken chili on Sunday, so lunch today is some of that. Along with havarti cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread to accompany.

Man, I need that gift certificate from Built! Today I packed my lunch, breakfast yogurt, my coffee tumbler, and aluminum water bottle. Using a gym bag to hold all of this!

Oh, I love the watercolor(?) illustrations of NYC iconic exteriors on newsprint(?). Can you tell me where you found them? A crisp and clean abode.

Hello, yes, I am a Magazine Junkie and it's pretty bad.

Here are the magazines that make it into the mailbox each month:
Time
Elle Decor
Gourmet
Bon Appetit
Glamour
Spin
Metropolitan Home
Time Out

The following subscriptions lapsed and I get all teary about it when I remember that I don't get them anymore: The New Yorker, Entertainment Weekly, and Saveur. At the bookstores, I'd fill up on the People, UsWeekly, In Touch, etc. but I'm imposing a no celebrity gossip diet and have stayed away.

Oh, this is a hard question- much like asking me to choose my favorite child. However, I will go with the square skillet as my favorite. I know it will be used regularly in my home to make delicious, pressed sandwiches.

Between work, social life, and creative pursuits, I spend little time in my studio rental apartment. Looking at the photos I took for this One Room Makeover giveaway, I can see why! My home is functional but it's mostly depressing and has no personality! And although I'd like to think of myself as a stylish, smart and creative person, none of that is reflected in my home.

For too long I've told myself that I have little money and time to invest in making my home a home, despite subscribing to multiple shelter magazines and visiting sites like Apartment Therapy. In truth, I feel psychologically crippled in making confident and decisive choices regarding my home because it means I have to commit. I think I need some hand-holding and boosting from someone to help me along. And while Lauri seems to focus on downsizing into a smaller space, I think she could really be invaluable in helping me turn a drab abode into something cozy, stylish, chic, and inviting.

Yes, what a gorgeous rug in the bedroom. Aquired through one of your travels, I'm guessing? If not, I'd go buy it now!

Charlie Brown, I totally get the "how an alien would learn how to be human from watching TV" vibe in your home. And it's an inspired interpretation! Fun!

Is the 9 shelf cubby bookshelf Ikea as well? Might you know the line?

Also, I was curious about the Amelie posters. Love me some Google because I found out that Michael Sowa is the artist behind the sick dog and fowl wearing pearls posters. I'm enchanted! What lovely finds!

Thanks for sharing your place, Charlie!

Thanks, MEP! It was disconcerting to see the pool of butter, but it did result in a very rich cake.

I will also try omitting the water and sugar from the blueberries. I like tart! And saves the extra calories. Also, I substituted skim milk for regular milk. More calorie saving.

When adding the batter to the melted butter in the baking dish, should I be mixing the batter and butter together in the dish? Or spread the batter without mixing (which resulted in the butter swimming atop the batter)?
