I miss Country Home so much. Also Martha Stewart's Blueprint. And Domino. I subscribed to all three, so my heart broke when they all went away. I just subscribed to Country Living for the first time. I'm sitting at a beautiful old library table that I painted just the top of. (I'm not suggesting that for yours, but it works on mine.) I was hesitant, but I've never regretted it. I bought a lot of magnets for a while -- and people always seem to give them to me as gifts -- but I finally got sick of the visual clutter. Now I keep a bare minimum of magnets, postcards and info on the fridge. I would like to have these magnetic boards on the INSIDE of my cabinets. Yes, the organizing-by-color scheme was cute for about a month. One of these posts the other day featured someone who went to the thrift store and bought a bunch of cool-looking books for display in her home. It's beyond me. Beautiful. Love the colors, the art, that fabulous chandelier and the cat. I'd love to see a little shock of bright blue or green in the dining room, maybe some cobalt glass. Just a thought .... I like posts like this. It could almost inspire me to paint. I've also been desiring more concealed storage to reduce visual clutter. To the above two commenters -- don't know if this suits your style, but I went to Michael's and bought galvanized metal tins in a variety of sizes for holding everything from hair products to Q-tips, and a matching metal flower pot for a trash can. I'd also suggest going to thrift/antique stores and looking for containers that you can repurpose for your needs.
