Beware the fado! It may just be my overall clumsiness, but I had one hanging in my bedroom over the bed and while fluffing the blankets, knocked the glass ball off. It came crashing down directly on my head where it smashed into a million pieces. I may not have had it installed correctly, but it never seemed very secure. I bought a shirt from the sale room from this particular retailer once and when the clerk rang it up, it came up as $.10. She was surprised I had come across it because it had been "dimed out" and wasn't supposed to be on the floor, but sold it to me for that price. She told me the last item of any style is always marked down to $.10, but that sounded a little fishy to me, since I had never heard of that before or since. Usually finding the latest Domino in my mailbox when I get home means an evening devoted to nothing else but reading it cover to cover. But for these last couple of months - I find that the thrill is quickly gone. A few months ago, I was asked to be part of a subscriber poll that asked if beauty & fashion should be included - and I vehemently protested. Looking at all of the other comments against a beauty/fashion section in Domino - it seems like the editors aren't listening to their readers any more. I grew up in Baltimore and lived in the Caribbean for five years and I think color is an important part of both places for different reasons. Baltimore prides itself on its historical rowhouses and its quirky personality. (John Waters, anyone?) I think the colored trim on those rowhouses is a way of standing out in a city full of identical looking residential buildings and people who aren't afraid of being unconventional to the point of pushing tacky. (And being a native, I mean that as a compliment.) Bold Home Color: What's the Cause? |
