My favorite things about this place are the books, and the cozy ambiance they give to the home -- I think the bookshelf placed on the mantle is ingenious. The little garden must be such a wonderful place to sit in, it's small size makes one able to enjoy every single thing about it at once.

Me Talk Pretty by David Sedaris is absolutely hilarious, I agree! I've just begun reading The Coffee Trader by David Liss which I borrowed from the library. I really wanted to read his first book A Conspiracy of Paper but it was out. I've heard rave reviews about all his work and I enjoy historical fiction.

A friend of mine is very allergic to cats yet married someone who has 5 cats. The friend takes allergy relief pills everyday. I think it's insane. One of these days there will be a research study that says long term use of the pills causes some bad side effect.

Oh my gosh, me too! My mom made great avocado ice cream, it was our favorite! I'll need to make it this weekend.

I've tried David Lebovitz' version of cooking it in the oven, yummy! It never made it into the brownie recipe I was going to use it for.

I know where you can get them, Smart & Final. I bought a bunch of them for just this purpose, and they are perfect. I forget the exact number per pack but definitely more than 10 a bag, and the covers are sold separately.

Oh my, I had this problem with a brand new grill cast iron pan and it sat for a few years unused, as it was so much work trying to clean out gunk from the grooves. The salt didn't work and I think contributed to the problem. I finally just took a deep breath and used a combination of repeated scouring and patient cleaning with a toothpick to get it clean like new. I think the problem was I did not season it properly and stuff just stuck after I used it the first time. I did not have this problem with my regular cast iron pan.

Last weekend I made a lychee sorbet with a small bit of ginger that made it so good, the very definition of a palate cleanser. I love lychees. I don't know if I can recommend it with lemon or chocolate but it would be a delicious experiment.
