Pottery Barn on steroids- price tags to scale. Really, if you can afford this stuff, there are so many better choices available. The only things out of the ordinary are the prices. Spending that kind of money, a person can do soooo much better.

Your place is pleasant and attractive, but I do feel that it is a bit mild, and could use a few striking individual elements to make it more your own.

The tour could really be incorporated, as is, into a Pottery Barn catalogue- so much so that I am surprised that you don't seem to have any Pottery barn items! Of course, the PB catalogue is appealing, but it is designed, also, with great care not to offend people with a variety of tastes. You don't have to worry about that, so maybe you might want to be a bit more daring in places!

The Russel Hobbs electric kettle is just the best ever, and frees the burners for cooking. It is great for boiling water for boiling and steaming veg when in a hurry, much faster than any pan, and no drips when pouring into your teapot or french press. I've had mine for 10 years, so it is a different cordless model.

In Pittsburgh: My mortgage payment on my 3 bedroom 1903 coop in a beautiful listed building, in a up and coming neighborhood, walking distance of shops, restaurants, etc. is $750. My coop dues are $645 per month, covering maintenance, all utilities, and real estate taxes.
Previously, I lived in a rental apartment of similar size, in a less interesting but also nice area for $1000, paying my own utilities.

TBs just take up too much room in a living room. And if you have guests, and haven't invited them over to watch a movie, or the superbowl or something, who wants a big old black rectangle in the middle of everything? That's not shame, it's just that a TV not in use is ugly and inconvenient. I'm lucky enough to have a spare bedroom/office with a sofa bed to sit on and watch a movie .But if I didn't, I try to find somewhere other than over the mantle to keep it while it's off.
